Second births- when did baby number 2 arrive in relation to first pregnancy?

Writing this at 39+5. Had a scare at 33/34 weeks she was coming early and had the steroid injections but she's still cooking 🙄 DS was induced at 42 weeks (10 years ago) and I'm really hoping for a spontaneous labour this time but so far have no signs 😑

How did your second labour compare to #1 weeks/days wise?

Damn, I was hoping the majority would be telling me the second comes earlier 🙈

#1 39+5
#2 41+2
#3 don’t ask Grin
It’s a trend I don’t want to see what happens a fourth time

DS was induced. Arrived 12 days late. Took forever to come. Active labour was well over 7 hours.

DD arrived 10 days late. Was going in to be induced but was 8cm when I got there. Didn't really feel the pain.
Rushed to labour ward, got on bed and she was born in 6 minutes!

Makes me laugh because DS is 15 now, still takes forever to do anything!! So laid back he's horizontal 🤣

DD is 12 and can be very assertive and in your face lol. They definitely match the way they came into the world.

PrincessSpanky · 19/01/2022 10:28

DC 1 - 39+2
DC2 - 37 +4

Both spontaneous.

DramaAlpaca · 19/01/2022 10:31

Three spontaneous labours:

DC1 39+2
DC2 40+5
DC3 39+2

MamaNeedsTea · 25/01/2022 23:20

Ds 40+5 five and a half hour Labour it from first pain. My contractions were very few minuets apart from the word go.

DD 40+5 two and a half hour Labour from first pain with contractions one minuet apart!

Loved loved LOVED my 2nd birth, born at 7am and home at 3pm snuggled on sofa!

casade13 · 25/01/2022 23:26

DS1 - day before his due date
DS2 - 10 days before his due date.

MissSmiley · 26/01/2022 08:18

@Crazydoglady123 my first was two weeks late, my second was a week late, fingers crossed it happens for you spontaneously

IMissSunnyDays · 26/01/2022 13:34

DC1 39+1
DC2 39+0

Both spontaneous labour.

You've got quite a bit age gap so the baby might not come sooner as is usually the case. My mum had a 10 year gap between 2 and 3, baby 1 was induced, baby 2 (me) 2 weeks early and baby 3 (exactly 10 years later) was over a week late.

IMissSunnyDays · 26/01/2022 13:38

Oh and DC3 40+0. Hardest birth too. Stop at 2 lol 😆!

MamaNeedsTea · 27/02/2022 19:38

1st 40+5 - 5 & a half hour Labour.

2nd 40+5 - 2 & a half hour Labour.

RedPandaMama · 27/02/2022 19:42

DD1 born 2017 - 40+12 spontaneous back to back labour lasting 46 hours, gas and air, epidural, diamorphine, water birth... bloody agony.

DD2 born 2021 - 39+1 waters broke at 39 weeks but wasn't contracting so induced following day - already dilated to 3.5cm so went on to hormone drip at 5.30 and baby born 1hr 45m later so very speedy labour! So much easier than first labour even just on gas and air, she pretty much shot out.

Crazydoglady123 · 27/02/2022 23:53

Will update now I've had #2

#1 at 42 weeks induction - pessary - 10 hours labour

#2 at 41+2 induction - waters broken and put on hormone drip and born within 2 hours of first strong contraction. Gave birth standing up and only gas and air and was such an amazing experience

@EcoCustard

Dc1 at 36+1 Dc2 at 38+4 Dc1 was contractions to birth in under an hour Dc2 was under two hours. 12 months apart and very different labours
@EcoCustard

I am interested in how you found giving birth 12 months apart?
This is something I've thought about - possibly trying again 6-12 months after my first baby but just wondering how my body would respond/cope. And obviously how well first baby would adapt to new sibling so soon. Genuinely curious.
