Are we wearing masks during a c section at the moment?

I'm not sure if you need to wear a mask during the c section. I'm having my third section in March and I was wondering
Thank you

Also interested. Second section end of Feb.

I've seen some photos of friends who were wearing masks and some not, when my last son was born he went straight to my face and suckled on my mouth 😭😭 I don't want to miss out on that

Had one 9 weeks ago.

I walked to theatre wearing one (had to wear it when moving round the ward) and wore it as I had my spinal done. Once I was laid down I felt a bit sick (was given meds to help so speak up if you're nauseous) and all the staff insisted I take my mask off, that they were all wearing theirs so I didn't need to.

My DH wore one throughout but when DC was born they insisted he take his off for pictures too Smile

I had to look back at my photos to check but a few months ago during lockdown I didn't have to. Good as I threw up during Grin DH had to wear one

Did not have to wear one in December in Scotland for labour or during the section. DH did though

I had a c section last week. I wore one to walk to theatre and while the spinal was administered, but then was asked if I wanted to take it off and no one asked to me to put it back on (I kept it off overnight but put it back on when staff came in the room the next day once I was up and about). DH kept his on throughout the surgery but took it off once we were settled back in our room. I’d had a PCR as part of my pre-op and another on admission. DH had to prove a negative LFT.

I didn't for my section in August - for labour or the surgery. I'm Midlands-based in England if that helps. My husband did but one of the nurses in theatre sneakily told him to take it off whilst she took our first photos together as a family.

All the best for yours in March, OP x

Looking at our photos from October both DP and I are wearing them on our chins.

Good luck with yours.
