Do 'real' contractions always start in the middle of the night?

just curious...

everyone seems to go into labour in the night.

Does anyone know why?

Anyone's start in the day?

My first started in the pub. But really went into labour in the night. All three times.

Rowlers · 20/12/2007 15:05

ds started 6.30pm born next day 3.00am

Actually thats rubbish, my third, who I always forget, was born at 2 something in the afternoon. He came out bum first too, so you'd think it would be memorable!

mine was induced in the morning first time and i had hte baby by em c.s that evening.

my second,i woke up at 7.30 am in labour, and delivered vaginally at 01.15 the next day. i know a number of women who've had their labours start in the day

with DS3 my first contraction was at about 3.15pm - I was picking DS2 up from nursery and had to drive home

DS3 was born at 9.30pm

Miaou · 20/12/2007 15:11

dd1 - labour started at 10pm
dd2 - labour started at 11am
ds1 - 10pm
ds2 - 3am

And dd2 was after a night of d&v which makes me think my body had just got used to getting rid of things ...

lilimama · 20/12/2007 15:12

wots d and v?

I woke at 6am to go to the loo and my waters broke on the bathroom floor, contractions started at around 8am, and was 3 mins apart and ready to go to hospital by around 2pm.

I do wonder if my body was 'preparing' during the night though and it woke me a 6am to tell me what was happening!

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 20/12/2007 15:13

Not sure if it is a phenomenon or not, or why it might be?... One of mine started at 9pm, the other at 7am.

Myrrhcy · 20/12/2007 15:17

With ds, contractions started in the morning - and then just stopped.

Started again at around 6pm and was born 3 hours later.

But with dd they started in the middle of the night.
