Waiting for an induction slot is the most annoying thing

I just need to rant really. Phoned at 10, can you phone back at 1.30. Phone at 1.30, can you phone back at 4.30. They might fit me in then but no guarantee anything will happen tonight.

So frustrating. I might just bin it off today and try tomorrow rather then have a night of no sleep and still no baby.

Does anyone know if they do inductions at the weekend?

Depends on your area but mine does. DC4 was booked in for a Sunday and dc5 a Saturday.

Good luck!

Thank you! Fingers crossed my 4th attempt gets me in this evening!

Hope you got in, if not, I was induced at 5pm on a Saturday

Midwife friend tells me it’s absolute chaos atm due to a huge baby boom kicking in and coinciding with a massive midwife shortage.

Our local Labour ward keeps closing its doors and diverting women over an hour away from our city. It’s a rural area anyway so many women already live 45 minutes from this hospital so it’s an almost 2 hour journey. Women have been holding on to last moment then turning up at the local hospital almost giving birth on reception floor because they don’t want to be sent elsewhere but there physically aren’t any midwives to help them.

It sounds like carnage. Health visitors and community Midwife’s are being pulled off their jobs to work at the hospital, my health visitor has totally disappeared and can’t ever be contacted.

When I had DD 5 months ago it was lovely and quiet on the Labour ward. Shows how things can change. Good luck and I hope they fit you in but if not just remember it’s because too many other women are giving birth right now xx

I got a slot easily, but when I got there (alone in the middle of the original covid lockdown) there were too many women going into labour, so they wouldn’t start me for over 24 hours!! I feel your pain OP, it will be over soon.

I’m in! I came in at 7.30 last night. Have a propess which is very uncomfortable and a few tightenings now.

I think I slept for an hour last night 😩

Good luck @Bennetgirl let us know how you get on xx

Bennetgirl · 05/11/2021 22:09

I’m bored!! I had over an hour of back to back contractions earlier. Got dp in quick and then walked down the corridor to another room. By the time I got there they’d stopped. I’m getting a few now but think that’s because the propess is still in.

Being checked at midnight to see if waters can be broken. If not, I’m going home and not coming back until it’s for a c section. Really wish I’d gone for the elective I could have had 😩

Oh fingers crossed. How dilated were you when they put the process in? Did they give you any indication?

Bennetgirl · 05/11/2021 22:42

Not at all really! Really hoping they’ll break my waters soon.

Getting more strong contractions so 🤞🏻 I just want the baby here and to go home to my girls x

Hopefully going for c section this morning. I was not much different last night and the exam was more painful then birth.

I’m tired and miss my other kids so hopefully I’ll get home tomorrow 🤞🏻

Oh bless you! Good luck.

PiffleWiffleWoozle · 06/11/2021 08:28

Good luck!

She arrived at 12.30 yesterday lunch time. The c section was actually really great. I had an amazing dr who even did a gentle c section where she was born slowly.

8lb6 so not the 10lb I was expecting. But, 36.5cm head that was wedged and broad shoulders. They all agreed I’d made the right choice as natural labour would have resulted in her getting stuck x
