As title says I was in labour for 26 hours and only got to 4cm she was back to back and. I had a failed epidural couldn't handle the pain so went for a section in hindsight I wish I hadn't but hey! Aiming for a vbac due in 4 weeks midwife keeps saying how second labour likely to be much quicker just wondering if anyone been through similar and had a quick second labour ? Really hoping for one

Not the same as what you'd asked but I had similar issues. Had a 28hr back to back labour with a failed epidural for baby1. They managed to get a spinal partially working eventually (still in pain but a bit better) and used ventouse because I couldn't get baby out.
Second labour was about 4 hours from contractions to birth and no interventions (tiny bit of gas and air). I would say only the last hour was properly painful and I was only in the birth centre for 30minutes before I gave birth. He came out the right way round! Such a different experience.

I didn't have a section but you may well have a better VBAC if baby is in a better position.
Good luck. Back to back labours are not nice.

Thank you @darcy77 that second one sounds very smooth! My midwife keeps saying because I laboured for so long my body will be like right show time and be much quicker but who knows really I can only hope !
God you aren't kidding I wonder if position of baby is linked to epidurals not working effectively

I had a very long labour after a failed early induction with DC1, so may have been because they were early and not ready to arrive, but DC2 was just under an hour start to finish, only 1 push and 9lb 6oz!

AHobbyaweek · 06/10/2021 21:06

Yes. First labour 48 hours from waters breaking then "failure to progress" to their timeline although I got to 9cm on drip and epidural.
Had a VBAC at home in Sep and official recorded labour was 3.5 hours with 15 mins pushing. Waters broke 10 hours before but mild contractions until that 3.5 hours start and went from 3cm to baby born in those 3.5 hours.

Ahhh ladies you are filling me with hope!!!

I had an induction, 36 hour labour, failed ventouse, epidural and forceps first time, total shitshow. Second - waters broke naturally, six hour labour and gas and air only.

Yes me, 1st emcs after a v long labour, not back to back but baby was big and just couldn't progress. Dc2 was a planned section as they expected another big baby (wasnt as big) but baby had other ideas and came 10 days early VBAC as by the time I got to hospital I was 9cm and they could see the head as they were prepping me for section so I pushed. A good experience but left with post birth issues. Had a planned section which DC3 which was a really good experience. Although I was glad to have had a VBAC it took me longer to fully recover (actually never fully recovered!) than a section with having stitches and then physio needed for pelvic floor and prolapse. Good luck with the arrival of your baby x

First was in latent labour for days and was severely dehydrated so they tried to induce me which failed so after 4 days they gave it up as a bad job and I had EMCS second didn't realise I was in labour until tea time thought it'd be latent labour like last time so put off calling the hospital until my waters burst quite dramatically and I was in quite a lot of pain, arrived at hospital and so did baby within 20 mins.
Second birth was a much more positive and easy experience.

mrssunshinexxx · 07/10/2021 21:42

Wow that was fast @ArtfulScreamer

@DilysPhyllis argh this scares me I'm really worried about bad tearing

Yes. Over 48 hours of labour with DD1 which ended in EMCS after I only got to 9 cm.

With DD2 I woke at 7 in the morning and knew something was different, had a show, by 9 I was having 3 contractions in 10 mins, went to have bath, realised I wasn’t going to make it to the wedding I was going to go. Decided at 11 to go into hospital because I wanted to lay claim to the pool room. At 4.30 I had a ‘rest and be thankful stage’. I remember the time because I sent DH to get us to get a cup of tea. I pushed for nearly 90 mins.

When I was in the pool (not allowed for pushing stage) my contractions were lasting for 2 to 3 mins with 1 min break in between. It was intense but i had no time to think or worry in between them.

mrssunshinexxx · 08/10/2021 16:15

Sounds like you did amazing @Fallagain god I hope my birth this time is smoother
