If you didn’t tear during 1st birth did you tear during 2nd?

I was very lucky in that I only had a graze with first baby (quick birth, in the water, on all fours all through labour and delivery). I’m really hoping the same happens again obviously! Is it likely if you didn’t tear that you won’t tear again or is it totally pot luck? This baby is actually measuring smaller but I don’t know if it’s just pure luck or maybe the water or birth position helped

I had a minor tear dc1, had to give birth on back due to trace and epidural, no stitches though. DC2 no tear and gave birth on all fours that time, and she was a whopper at 10lb5. Second births are generally easier so chancer are you’ll be fine.

I didn't tear with any of mine (3 of them). Small grazes.

I only grazed first time, and nothing at all second time. Second baby was also smaller, and much quicker birth. Fingers crossed for you! I’m just about due my 3rd so hoping I’m ok with that one too!

No, I didn't tear in either of my births both of which were quick and intense. I didn't do any perineal massage in pregnancy either. I did do lots of yoga though. No idea if that makes a difference.

No tears with my DCs births, thank fully. Not water births but I seem to like to be upright so two standing births and one kneeling.

Hopefully you will find the same again, good luck

Graze first time, three stitches. Nothing in subsequent births.
