Bloody show and cramps in upper abdomen

I'm 39w today Smile and since last night I've generally felt much more uncomfortable and started having waves of tightening sun my upper abdomen.

This morning after an awful sleep I'm still getting this funny feeling come and go in my upper abdomen and felt a bit sicky. I went for a wee and wiped and there was blood on the tissue so assuming my mucus plug is starting to go.

Does this sound familiar for the start of labour? The fact these weird pains are in my upper abdomen has thrown me a bit.

Thanks

Sounds like you're not far off to me! (But saying that labour is a tricky mistress and it could take up to 2 weeks! I hope not for your sake, but this definitely sounds like the beginnings)
Try some kerb stepping/brisk walking to bring it on perhaps?

Congratulations!

Sounds like stuff starting. Often the start of labour can bring on some upset stomach symptoms- which helps to Empty the bowel in preparation. The position of baby can also influence where the contractions or cramps are felt.
If I were you, having had four babies over the years- I’d have a brisk walk, a lovely hot shower or bath and then a nap- if it’s going to Come to something then it will, And you’ll appreciate the rest. I stupidly was so so busy all day following my show with number 3 and regretted that when I went properly into labour at 10.30 that night and ended up having had no sleep for over 24 hours.

Thank you. I will definitely try but with a 13 month old at home it's not easy but I have just had a nice shower and washed my hair.

He was born early via section so I never experienced all of this first time round.

Any updates @Amichelle84 ? Were you booked for an elcs or going for vbac?

Amichelle84 · 14/09/2021 17:01

We were booked in for a section on Thursday but he was born by vbac earlier today and I could t be happier as I really didn't want a section.

The upper pains gradually got lower and my waters broke at 5am today and I was 4cm dial aged by the time I got to hospital and fully not long after that
