Hello,
So as the title says really, I'm changing a pad every hour! It's been very heavy since yesterday, it started small on Friday, and only got heavier. Is that to be expected?

Only just started solids for LO, but still mostly bf and have ebf since birth

Is it your first post partum period?

Mine was horrendous after my first. Have never had heavy or painful periods but this was unreal!

I can only comment on my own experience. I had an awful period around that time, literally through my jeans and onto the kitchen tiles- almost passed out. I’d ring 111 if you are very worried, or in pain or it gets worse/continues. Do you normally have heavy periods? Do you feel ok in yourself?
Hopefully this will give you a bump and others can comment.

I could have written this post myself. My DS is 6ms, was EBF and just started solids this week, and I got my first PP period on Friday. I've been bent over double in agony with it. Guess which day his first ever swimming lesson was (Friday! Sad)

@Pinkflipflop85, yes it's the first real pp, in previous months it was barely filling a liner. Thanks for sharing your experience, it's quite scary!

@Pinkflipflop85 it sounds awful, mine isn't quite as bad I think! My periods are normally moderate I'd say, but nothing like this, ever. I feel ok, but I'll see how it goes, thanks

@blairresignationjam oh no! Did you manage all right in the end? Sorry you're in pain, are your periods usually painful?

Nope, infact my whole life they've only ever lasted a single day (think my luck's run out now though!) Everything I've read seems to say the first one can be bad so pretty sure we're in the normal camp.

TensmumT · 23/08/2021 03:32

@blairresignationjam - I really hope so!

Hope it's easing for you by now Thanks

Same for me, super heavy for the first few months postpartum. I was doubling up on underwear at one point 🙈
Hope it gets better soon x

squirrelnutkins1 · 25/08/2021 13:17

*when I started again when baby was 6 months I mean.

TensmumT · 25/08/2021 17:28

@DominicRaabsTravelAgent @squirrelnutkins1 thanks, yes thankfully I'm past it! It was quite unnerving tbh, I've never had such heavy flow... I'm dreading the next one now! Imagine being at work Sad
