Waters broke but no contractions - reassure me please!

Due yesterday and waters went about 5 hours ago. The odd pain here and there but nothing consistent. Desperately don’t want to be induced so really hoping contractions appear.

I’ve been for a walk and been bouncing on the ball. Planning to go to bed normal time and try and get some sleep but in the meantime can you please tell me some stories of waters breaking and labour starting within 24 hours?

TIA!

They let me go longer than 24 hours but I did go i to spontaneous Labour it was my first so I didn't realise they were supposed to do something Hmm she is 21 now so all was well

Mine didn't I'm afraid. Waters broke in the early hours of the morning and then nothing at all, went in the next day for induction. Hopefully something comes on for you 🤞🏼

Mine went at about 6pm the day after my due date. With no signs of anything else going on. Spontaneous labour started about half eleven that night and DD arrived by 5am. Fingers crossed something starts for you soon!

mine went in the evening, contractions about 6 hours later and then baby born 5 hours after the contractions started.

Mine started within about half an hour of my waters going, but they were green so I went to hospital. Turned out there was a bit of meconium in them so I was induced even though I was already contracting on my own.

DSis's waters went at about 11am and then when she went in to be induced just less than 24hrs later they found she was already having very minor ones so she didn't actually need any intervention.

I was talking to a work connection about births last week and her baby caught a serious infection and ended up in intensive care; unbeknownst to her her waters were leaking slowly for about 24hrs before she'd gone into hospital for a check. Ended up in hospital for the guts of a week.

Fingers crossed you start yourself!

Still not having any regular contractions but have had a few really painful ones. Off to bed to binge Netflix and hope that they ramp up!

My waters broke first each time but no contractions until I was placed on a drip. Depending what was policy at the time drip was started 12/24/48 hours later. Births were straightforward though no interventions.

CaptainWentworth · 13/08/2021 21:12

How are you getting on? In my first pregnancy my waters broken4 days early at about 2pm, then contractions started about 6pm ish. They would have induced me first thing the next morning if nothing had happened.

Good luck!

Mine went at home but no contractions for about 16 hours, then they started on their own, no intervention needed.

Helporhindrance07 · 13/08/2021 21:58

My waters broke spontaneously but no regular contractions for 24 hours. I got put on the drip though and that sorted them out, it honestly wasn’t as bad as I imagined it would be!

With DC2 I really wanted another home birth.

Waters went at 4am on a Wednesday morning (2 days overdue). Nothing all day except for small cramps really. Midwife came to check late afternoon. Nothing that evening. Had to go into hospital the next morning (Thursday) to be checked over. Consultant was ace and said go home, chill out but would need to come back every morning for monitoring and/or induction at some point.

Midnight Thursday contractions ramped up DC2 made an appearance at 5am on the Friday morning so 48 hours after waters originally going.

Hang in there, won’t be long Smile

MarchSurprise · 13/08/2021 22:29

Good luck!

My waters broke at 3am, and contractions started 10pmish, with baby here by 2.15. The hospital would have induced me had I have gone over 24 hours with nothing starting up.

mancarose · 13/08/2021 22:30

My waters broke and they let me go longer that 24 hrs as my contractions were slightly starting at the 24hr point, walking helped a lot and bouncing on the ball, good luck!!!

FrankieBergstein · 13/08/2021 23:12

Contractions about 10 mins apart for about 2 hours now but quite painful. Come on baby!
