Last few days (about 4 days now) been achey like period pain. Sometimes much more intense then easing off. Reckons on BH's.. however yesterday and today I have had some quite bad pains on RHS of bump like a really bad stitch, so bad cant walk. I have also had upset tummy.

I have still been getting period like pains low down when relaxing but no real regularity to them. Feel quite icky, but desperate to go and look at poss new car as if this is it, need car sorted!

Have had no show, waters not broken (unless the wet undies are slowly leaking waters, although i doubt it

This isnt my first so feel stupid not knowing. Mw will call me later.

I was also measuring perfect for dates, but i got the old tape measure out last night and instead of measuring 35/36 am measuring about 40/41.

Do i call dp in Japan to let him know??

Hi Awen - glad all sort of ok. Just to say dd was born at 37 weeks but had IUGR so was tiny (4 lbs 9 oz) and did have problems with blood sugars and heating but she only ended up there for a couple of hours and not immediately so I was able to cuddle/ bond a bit for a couple of hours before she went off. I just slept in those few hours (had had a long induction followed by middle of the night emergency c-sec) so the separation didn't feel too bad. Good luck.

MamaMaiasaura · 01/12/2007 17:04

Is the seperation I am dreading if it happens. Hate to think of him al alone He should be around 6lb or more.

Am contracting regularly. They are lasting longer too - 5-6 minutes long. Forgot they did that. Do they or am i imagining it. Also a fair bit more painful. Not unbearable though so I will push to come home again so i can try and rest here.

They are a bit funny as hoping for vbac and prev diff birth - pph etc.

contractions that long ... have you called MW?

BH tend to last longer than real contractions

but if this is real labour and contractions are lasting that long, then maybe you ought to get some more checking out?

MamaMaiasaura · 01/12/2007 18:07

was checked this morning, cervix shortening thats it atm. Due back at 9/10pm for last steriod injection for LO.

barbamama · 01/12/2007 18:09

just wanted to say good luck Awen. my friend had her baby at 35 weeks a few weeks ago and no need for SCBU. No time for steroids either and baby was fine.

Camillathechicken · 01/12/2007 18:11

i'd mention the length of the contractions when you go back later..are you getting any pains low down, sort of deep in your pelvis..? sometimes that can signal dilation

fruitful · 01/12/2007 18:12

Silly paed. They have no idea of the effect they're having! SCBU will have heated cots - the same as the normal ones but with a heat pad under the mattress. You may be able to have baby with you in one of those cots. You'd prob be in a ward next to SCBU so you are close to the baby and can be there for all the feeds and as much time in between as you can manage. Your mum & dp can go in there and sit cuddling the baby too.

But your baby may easily be fine without SCBU at all I should think. 6lb is great. And perhaps you are in labour because the baby is ready to come?

(and best thing for blood sugar issues is lots and lots of bf'ing).

Glad your dp is there!

MamaMaiasaura · 01/12/2007 18:18

not deep in pelvis, was all low down earlier, feeling pressure at top now. and squeezing.

The paed was very much of the opinion he will have to have comp feeds and that we wont be able to do it properly and need to be shown how so we dont pour down his windpipe. (this is my 2nd child.. managed not to choke ds1).

Awen - Don't worry hun, The doc is there to tell you the worst case scenario.

Chances are you're going to get there and baby will come out in 2 pushes screaming his little head off and gasping for the breastmilk!!

Camillathechicken · 01/12/2007 18:21

you and bubs will be just fine

6 lbs is a good weight for a prem baby.. and he is only on the cusp if born now

gingeme · 01/12/2007 21:30

Oh Awen sounds like your on your way for sure. As the other ladies have said 6lb is a good weight fro a prem baby. So glad dp is with you too. Oh good luck to you and big to you all. xxx

lilymolly · 01/12/2007 21:35

susiemj · 02/12/2007 00:01

weewishyouamerryonion · 02/12/2007 00:35

just found this thread - good luck and waiting to har the news...

MamaMaiasaura · 02/12/2007 21:41

sigh Managed to get some sleep last night. Woke at 5.30 with strong and what felt like powerful contractions. Stayed at home, they were coming every three minutes. Lost some water. Really felt like stuff happening. Still does. Got to hospital around lunchtime... cervix still closed. They did finally manage to pick up contractions on monitor and peaking around 80. I got all upset as am soo tired and fed up of ds1 been carted left rigth and centre. Said if i hadnt progressed there is prob no point in me being there. Wnet to sisters, got ds and went out to park with him (didnt last long as ouchy), had something ot eat, come home. Have settled a bit again.

It all feels very different down there. Mw at hospital said i may end up with a prolonged labour like with ds1 I dont want to go back up hosp until it feels like i want to push. So no baby here yet, he seems happy enough though all engaged and pushing down there.

Will keep updated. DP was fab today.

AWEN - Glad you've updated us. Good to hear LO is ok and hope he stays there a bit longer so that there is no need for them to be mentioning SCUBU.
