NBG is 40 weeks pregnant (today!) and this morning had diarroeah and felt very sick and ill. This went on for a while, feeling like she had bad belly but no "pains" as such.

Tummy died down and started to feel some tightenings but nothing major or too regular.

Anyway, she is feeling shaky and like she is having palpitations.

Any ideas? She has eaten (is wondering if the palpitations are reaction to lucozade)

Can anyone shed light on what the shakes and heart racing could be in early labour?

Has she eaten enough? Poss not too helpful but I'm 41 weeks and get really low blood sugar if I don't eat LOADS.

She has had diarrhoea so may be dehydrated

Call the midwife/doctor if you're worried though...

I had the shaky thing with dd, right after my waters went - was as though I was very very cold, even though I wasn't iyswim.

And some women have a type of diarrhoea before going into labour (nature's way of emptying the bowels I believe!)

Good luck Nbg

no idea but i want to wish her well

I don't remember palpitations but I was sick and had diarrhoea on my due date too, went into Labour that night and DD arrived the next day. Call the Midwife re the Palpitations. Sounds like LO is about to make an appearance! Good Luck NBG

I get really bad palpations but i have a very low iron count and have been told that can cause them???
I dont know if NBG has had this problem?
And the diarreah is supposed to be your body clearing out and getting ready.

Not much help sorry, hope everything goes well

Hey chop, get on with it.

Camillathechicken · 28/11/2007 20:18

panic related?

tummy bug?

pre labour?

if she is feeling poorly and having palpitations she should call her MW

ScoobyDoo · 28/11/2007 20:24

It's sounds like labour is on it's way for NBG.

I think palpitations come in pregnancy because of the extra weight being carried & the strain on the heart with the extra blood flow, maybe she is getting them because her body is preparing for her iminent labour & so it is working more harder?

I wish her luck but i would call the mw to explain whats happening & see what they think
