Are there signs of labour in the days before it comes?

Hi all!

I'm a first time mum at 37 weeks and am just wondering if there are any signs of labour coming in the days/weeks before it starts?

Should I expect to just wake up with contractions or are there symptoms to watch out for along the way?

For any mums already, did you know your labour was coming or was it a surprise on the day?

Any advice/experience is appreciated ❤️

I didn't have a single thing, not a show, not a cramp or contraction, not a single pang until the moment I went into full blown labour.

I was 12 days over my due date, so 41+5. I refused an induction (baby comes when baby comes!) and went into labour at 8 in the morning. Just out of nowhere, massive contraction, no build up, and pains were then immediately 3 mins apart. Baby was in my arms 3 hrs later Smile.
