Bounty reps at hospital

Anyone know if those ghastly Bounty women are still allowed to harass you in your post-birth haze in hospital atm?

Hoping them being evicted might be the one good thing about Covid...

I am still angry about the Bounty rep intruding into my post natal haze, twelve years later! She marred those precious first few hours with my baby and I sincerely hope the practice is banned.

DD2 was born 25 years ago and I still remember with horror my experience with the bounty rep.

She waltzed in to my room as I came out of the shower 8 hrs after birth and and before I knew it was trying to stop DD crying for a photo by sticking an unwashed knuckle in her mouth! It was a dreadful photo- she seemed quite put out that we didn't want it.

I was spammed for years after this with junk mail.

When they turned up to do the same for DD2 2 years later I gave them short shrift and told them to get lost!

I had babies in 2014 and 2017 and had read so much about how bad they were, I was prepared to tell them where to go - but I didn’t see any in the end Grin

Due my first child… sooooo what do you get for free? 😂

And how much are the photos?

HPmagic · 07/07/2021 22:04

What were they trying to sell to people I don't understand.

I had a bounty rep approach me in Hospital but she was lovely she offered to take a family picture for free and I said no maybe just the baby. She took a lovely photo of my child and she give me a bag and advised there was a child benefit form inside also and away she went. No issues

This brings back memories. The day the bounty rep came around the ward I was on, ds1 had been taken into special care. Didn't even get a whiff of her, thank goodness

They gave you a bag full of samples of sudacrem and pampers, and in return, harvested your contact details to sell on to companies

It was particularly shit that the companies buying the contact details knew they had vulnerable new parents, so there would be lots of junk mail from house alarm companies asking what you would do if someone broke into your house in the middle of the night and threatened your children, or life insurance companies asking if you want to leave your children destitute if you died suddenly

All the sort of stuff to tug on your heart strings in those first weeks when you’re worry is on overdrive and you have no idea which way is up…

I had DS is 2015 and I burst into tears at the Bounty. It was not a good morning and she said to me "you're a bit dramatic over this".

DS wouldn't latch (had bad tongue tie though unknown at the time) and I was saying to the midwife that I felt like a failure.

I almost told her to fuck off!

OllyBJolly · 07/07/2021 22:27

Lots of money! Companies like Proctor & Gamble pay them loads of cash for the contacts.

(XH was a brand manager for Pampers)

BertieBotts · 07/07/2021 22:50

They're not trying to sell stuff to you HP they are trying to get your details to sell to marketing companies.

Must be a bit of a redundant business opportunity nowadays with everyone on social media.

Why these are slowed god only knows

I had dd in 2015 and the woman was a
Nuisance so I said to my bay of 4 (me and 3 other girls) "is anyone interested in an overpriced photo shoot" they all shouted back "no" and so I said "if you'd be kind enough to leave the child benefit forms that will be all and she cleared off looking annoyed

Ds in 2019 I don't think i was in long enough but the staff gave me a bounty pack they had a cupboard of them and I pulled out the child benefit
Form and binned the other junk in hospital
