Is spontaneous labour less likely to happen with a breech baby?

Just that really.. 38 weeks tomorrow, fed up and it's still 10 days till my ELCS which feels like forever away! Baby boy has been breech since 28 weeks Confused he's 'extended breech' so bum down.
Just wondering if labour would be less likely to happen spontaneously when baby's head isn't engaged ie with a breech baby? I've read through a lot of threads where people are disappointed that they might have to wait longer as their babies heads aren't fully engaged yet. However I am aware that a vaginal birth can happen with a breech baby.

I just want him to be here now! Also it's too hot to be this pregnant SadSad

My third child was breech. I went into labour spontaneously at 39 weeks, the day before he was due to be induced.

I went into spontaneous labour with both my breech babies at 38 weeks.
Apparently the contractions can have less time between as your body goes into panic mode as the bum weighs less than the head so baby doesn’t move down the birth canal. This happened with both my DC- constant contractions and only 1cm dilated.

@Gladimnotcampinginthisweather so there is hope for me then Grin

@Welshponyslave that's interesting I didn't know that! But also sounds like it was an extremely painful experience with the constant contractions!

I laboured with my first who was (unknown to me at the time) breech. Welshpony that makes sense as I was in so much pain but didn’t dilate past 6cm at which point they realised something wasn’t right as I had been in labour for a long time!

@Welshponyslave that’s fascinating and makes a lot of sense - I went into labour at 34+4 with by DD who was breech. I went from waters breaking to contractions every couple of mins in the space of a couple of hours but was still only 1cm dilated when i was examined at hospital Sad.

Good luck op, hope all goes well!

My breech baby had a spontaneous, natural birth. I went into labour 40 + 3, with a vaginal birth about 6 hours later.

Ooohh all very interesting experiences - I guess it must have nothing to do with the head being engaged then! I feel bad saying I want it to happen before my ELCS date but I feel slightly desperate at this point Sad I know it's unlikely to happen before but I'm still hopeful!
