Do you have to take a car seat into the hospital to bring baby out?

Hey wise people,

For my first I had a a baby seat I took into hospital but this time we've got a isize joie 360 and it doesn't remove from the base! So wondering if they will let us walk out with baby in arms or not! Sounds silly I know but I was told to bring a car seat and I don't see the point in buying another just for 2 mins to the car and I'm also super sleep deprived so appreciate I'm probably being a plonker asking this haha

Thank you Grin

And the only comment I had from the midwifes was to compliment the pram! They didn’t even ask about a car.

My hospital in London say you have to have a car seat so no not a London thing

Do they mean you have to have a car seat if you have a car though? It would be strange to expect someone without a car to have a car seat.

We took DS home in a pram so no car seat needed.

I bought a car seat for this very reason.

Baby was going in a black cab.

Used the car seat once. That one time.

£200 to get out of hospital without an argument Confused

Car seat no matter what in my area, driving or not, I don’t drive so had to borrow one as wasn’t going to buy one to use once.!

They’d have no right to detain you or your baby. I understand not wanting a row after giving birth, though.

I asked this whilst an inpatient on maternity this morning. Husband needs to bring the pram in.

Yes. It’s one of those things that some absolute idiots came up with. We didn’t drive when our DD was born but still had to carry her home in a car seat. It was a 20 mins walk and no we weren’t allowed to use our pram. But then another idiot was walking me up every 3h to check my blood pressure even thought it was normal. Stones for brains but hey, they followed their rules 🤣
