How long after your ELCS was your partner allowed to stay in hospital? (during covid)

Just this ๐Ÿ‘†๐Ÿผ

Having an elective section early August (nhs) and wondering if he will be asked to leave straight after Iโ€™m out recovery or if heโ€™s allowed to stay a few hours. Thanks

My DH was with me from admittance until discharge but he couldn't leave so once he was in he was in. I was so pleased to have him with me though

It'll vary by trust and things may be better by August.

Last summer, DH was allowed stay with me in recovery for first feed etc until we were moved to the ward, about an hour I guess. Then he was allowed in for an hour a day, including the afternoon of the section and the morning we got home.

@webuiltthiscityonrockandwheat oh that would be amazing! My friend has given birth at my hospital just a few weeks ago and her partner wasnโ€™t allowed in til sheโ€™d gone to the labour ward and was sent home about an hour after baby arrived so Iโ€™m thinking he might not get long ๐Ÿ˜ฉ feel like with a section I could really be doing with him, will feel guilty to constantly ring the midwives for help

@MindyStClaire this is kind of what Iโ€™m imagining will probably happen. I know theyโ€™re allowed in for one hour visits after they go home anyway but just desperately want him there the first few hours when Iโ€™m useless ๐Ÿ™ˆ

It totally depends on the hospital. At mine partners can stay as long as they want (a friend's husband stayed over a week!) But they aren't allowed back in if they leave.

I expect it will change by August anyway - apparently the NHS and maternity services have been told that they need to get things back to normal now asap, with regard to visitors, so expect things will change over the next few weeks.

1 hour on the ward after and then not allowed back until I was discharged

My twins were in NICU though which was unrestricted visiting hours for parents

Redskyyy · 18/05/2021 16:53

A couple of hours. He was allowed to arrive about 10 mins before I went into theatre. One of my twins was in nicu and we had to take it in turn to visit him. That was last April though. I think by August the restrictions will be much lighter.

@Redskyyy oh no, I havenโ€™t even thought about what if they donโ€™t let him come in with me before it ๐Ÿ™ˆ Iโ€™ll be panicking enough as it is! Hopefully they arenโ€™t restricting partners so much by August
