I’m due my 2nd in a few weeks & wondering how long did they keep you in before discharging you? & if they would discharge you from labour ward or do you have to go to postnatal ward?

With the current restrictions I know it may be different for each trust etc. But just generally, did they allow you to go if no complications etc after like 4 hours or so? Thank you xx

I had a baby last year during first lockdown. Not Uk. Standard here is still 5-7 days stay for normal birth, longer for c section.
I was allowed to go home after 2 days ‘due to Covid’ as they have double rooms usually and were sticking to one person per room so we freed up a room.

However they were insistent I could stay longer, and were only half happy I could go after 2 days as I had a private midwife booked to do home visits every day for 2 weeks after.

I do find it strange your kicked out so soon in Uk. Mine was an ‘easy’ birth, and I walked out after 2 days with ds in sling, but those 2 days were when he had all his checks. They do hip scan, eye test, hearing, bloods etc

With my second baby and no complications I was there about 6 hours.
