St Thomas London Private Birth or Birth Centre-recent experiences/covid

Hi,

I'm due to give birth at St Thomas hospital very shortly. I'm a private patient but, due to COVID, they have closed the private maternity wing (Westminster Maternity Suite) and are moving everyone to the 7th floor (Home from Home birth centre). Did anyone else, who has chosen to go private with them, have to be moved to the 7th floor and if so what were your experiences? I'm worried about staff shortages and the facilities. Also, if that happened to you, did you get a refund of your fees?

Hi there - interested in your experience. Did you end up in the home from home and how was it?

Hi @AKH88. Yes I ended up in the HFH but still had a really good experience. I believe the rooms are actually bigger than the ones in the Westminster suite. All midwives were private midwives and it was closed to NHS patients so it still felt very private. They also refunded me £250 as a goodwill gesture which tbh didn’t really make much difference given the cost of it all! However, as I said I can’t really complain about my experience so was happy to pay the full price.
