Hi girls, I'm 39+5 and getting induced Mon evening, to be in hospital for 8pm. I just have a few questions if someone wouldn't mind answering. 2nd time mum so it'll be the 6hr gel I get so if I don't dilate with them, I get another round and is it after this of nothing has happened they break your waters? Does it hurt? Then after that you are put on a drip? My midwife said that they are too keen to put you on a drop and I've to ask for 2 hours to see if I go into labour myself but can't remember if that was after 1st or 2nd gel or breaking waters. Anyone know? Thanks in advance x

Have you tried having a 'sweep' yet, OP? This is something that is optional but can get labour moving. This would usually happen prior to being induced. Worth a try if you haven't had one already, the midwives would usually try I think around 39/40 weeks.

Hi op had my induction started on the 21st 3 stretch and sweeps which were unsuccessful followed by the pessaries at 12 hour intervals which were also unsuccessful they eventually broke my waters on thursday morning still nothing none of the above were painful just uncomfortable after my waters broke still nothing so they set me off on the oxytocin drip at 11pm thursday night and my little girl was born at half 7 friday morning the drip was very painful as it brought contractions on thick and fast! Hope this helps xx

I went straight to breaking waters for my induction as they couldn’t use the pessary or drip due to risk factors from previous emcs. Actual breaking of waters was fairly unpleasant (but that was because my cervix was so far back apparently) but after a walk around contractions starting coming quickly which was good. Good luck!

Hi I gave birth on Saturday after induction! Your waters being broken aren’t too sore just uncomfortable but I would try avoid being put on the drip, I wish I had asked from some time for contractions to start themselves. It’s so intense!!
