"Childbirth easy after your first as you just have a cave"

My friend said this to me, after her first she said her babies came out easy and she didn't have to push as she has a cave after her first labour. She literally said she could swing a cat around in there Hmm.
So what I want to know is, is this true for anyone else? My first and second labours were hard and assisted, my babies certainly didn't come out without any pushing ! I told her I didn't have a cave and my vagina went back to pre pregnancy but she was very set and told me I do, I obviously just don't realise it! 😬 it didn't matter how much I said otherwise she wasn't having it. So is this why my labours were so hard, have you all got "caves" now?! 🤣🤣

Well it sounds like she needs to do her pelvic floor exercises pronto Grin
Everyone’s different though, some people go back to normal others stay ‘open’ Blush can’t say I or dp have noticed any difference and I have 4 children.

Mouthfulofquiz · 27/09/2020 15:14

Your friend sounds.... a bit daft!
My second was easier, but my third was much harder. I’m not denying that your body changes but it’s a bit much to call it a ‘cave’. I expect her other half has told her that and he is a bit of a dick?

I've had four vaginal births, and the fourth was just as painful/difficult as the first. She certainly didn't just 'slide out'!

If your friend has a cave you better tell her to keep an eye out for bats. I've heard they can be pesky little buggers.

@CarolVordermansBum hahaha that made me laugh 😂

My third was the hardest of all of them. She just would not come out. Had to have a section.

toomanyplants · 27/09/2020 16:24

So did her second walk out of there?
What a ridiculous thing to say!
My bets are on her other half lacking in a certain department and attempting to belittle her.

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 27/09/2020 17:20

Mine is exactly the same as it was before the baby!

Crabbo · 27/09/2020 17:39

My second was quicker than my first but just as agonising and I still tore even though she was only 6lb so nope, definitely no cave!

rorosemary · 27/09/2020 17:55

My SIL's 1st and 2nd births were easy, the 3rd was a nightmare, got stuck, had lack of oxygen et cetera. Was an emergency situation with more than ten people in the room to get him out in time. He (just) survived. Thankfully.

One of my grandma's found that the 6th was the worst. Was a ten pound baby and nan was almost 47 years old and tired so it might have been that. Other granny's 5th was breech which she found very hard.

OhToBeASeahorse · 27/09/2020 17:59

Your friend sounds weird! Dont think there is any truth in it, but I do think (read 'hope') your body is a bit more prepared for what happens

BertieBotts · 27/09/2020 18:00

No, it's not like a cave. Your vagina is not like the neck of an old jumper that stretches out of shape, it is like your mouth - you can open it REALLY wide when you're at the dentist or to eat a hyuuge slice of cake but doing these things doesn't mean your mouth hangs open forevermore Confused

WhoUsedMyName · 27/09/2020 18:01

3rd babies must just be awkward (nothing about 3rd time lucky) my 3rd was awful he got stuck they got me ready for theatre and he tore his way out 🤢 I wouldn't say dh needs lantern or goes hiking in there tbh

mineofuselessinformation · 27/09/2020 18:06

WTF?
Cheeky cow. Tell her not to judge others by her own standards!

Letmegetthisrightasawoman · 27/09/2020 21:14

Nice bit of internalised misogyny and possibly a twattish OH there... Also quite funny she thinks she knows better what your vagina looks like than you do, come to think about it...

Needcoffeecoffeecoffee · 27/09/2020 21:17

My 2nd was easier than the first but not due to having a cave!! I was just more confident about birth and less scared.

I'm not asking Dh to shout up there and see if it echoes!!Grin

WhoUsedMyName · 27/09/2020 21:22

@Needcoffeecoffeecoffee 🤣made me laugh.
Hello hellooo hello hellloooo

Yummymummy2020 · 27/09/2020 21:23

I don’t think I have a cave after my first but currently expecting my second and am hopeful that it will be easier 😂😂😂😂 I don’t think I’m too different now from before I had a baby and I had a forceps delivery so there was a bit of damage down there which healed great. But the doctor did say the next one would come out easier, maybe she was just trying to be positive about it😂😂😂😂 I’ll live in hope!!!

Beach11 · 27/09/2020 21:33

My 1st labour was bad but my 2nd was a nightmare and definitely much harder.
