Hey All! I recently found out I’m pregnant as well as recently moving to Luton. I’d love to know peoples experience at this hospital. Sadly can’t have a tour any time soon due to COVID. I have plenty of time to so just want to start looking in to it before having to make my mind up. Also if you live in Luton and chose another hospital please let me know which one and your experience?
Thank you ladies in advance!
This is my first pregnancy so I’m a bit excited haha

I had my first here and now 19 weeks with my second and couldn’t fault the care I had there. Also know a lot of my friends had their little ones there (including 2 with very high risk pregnancies and nicu stays) and they wouldn’t Choi’s anywhere else either

Had my DD there last December and I can’t fault them. The midwives and doctors were great during the birth, and they were also really good for my antenatal care. The postnatal ward is very busy so things were a bit slow but again I can’t fault the care I received, and i found they are strict about visitors/partners behaviour on the ward so I didn’t have that postnatal ward experience a lot of other posters on here seem to have. The staff working in the maternity unit were all really nice, if I have another baby I will definitely go there again.

I guess stoke mandeville is out of your area of choice but I’ve heard a lot of good things about having a baby there from friends.

All three of mine were born at the L&D, most recently a month ago today. I'm afraid I'm not as positive as PP. In hindsight I wish I'd gone to the Lister in Stevenage even though it wasn't practical.

My second was Nov 2018 and not much fun, he was back to back, they were jammed and I spent 12 hours on an open ward with no pain relief due to no space on the delivery suite. It was ok, but the lack of privacy didn't help me to progress. Once I moved it was all fine.

Most recent birth was horrific. I'm done at 3 but I would never, ever go back there. I won't go into detail and scare you but I'm waiting on an investigation now particularly involving one of several midwives.

My first birth there was amazing, but that was over a decade ago. The circs this time obvs didn't help, but that midwife was evil, and I'm hoping she will be dealt with properly so future mums don't have to deal with her.
