Anyone with UCLH and had their ELCS moved to Whittington

I've read that low risk ELCS are performed at the Whittington even if you are booked with UCLH.

Has anyone had experience of this and how they do the transfer and how the procedure and care at the Whittington was?

I have my birth choices appointment next week to request an ELCS and I want to be prepared. I'm glad I read about it ahead of the appointment as my first reaction was - WTF no way am I having it in a different hospital at this late stage!!!

Some experiences would be appreciated. I have never seen the Whittington or known anyone who has had their baby there. At 32 weeks it's throwing me off quite a bit to think I would be giving birth somewhere else altogether!

I had both mine at UCLH and when I had my birth choices appointment I got asked if i would be alright with being allocated to the Whittington if it was necessary, as I was low risk. I said no, I wanted it at UCLH. I was all ready to explain why but the consultant shrugged and ticked a box and that was it, no more mention of it.
I say be polite and discuss it with them and if you’re not comfortable then make it clear you would like it to happen at UCLH.

Thank you that's really reassuring!

I had low risk ELC at UCLH even though I live quite close to Whittington. There was never a mention of being transfered.

Oh that's good to hear @doadeer - maybe it's quite rare for them to do

Birth choices appointment? I’m a ftm, 36w and this hasn’t been mentioned to me at all - can you give me some context, I have an appointment with obstetrician next week and MW week after (at St George’s SW London) x
