What did you wear for water birth?

I'm planning on having a water birth. Just wondering what to pack to wear. I am thinking just a bikini top to make it easy for skin to skin afterwards but any suggestions would be appreciated

I wore a short nightie, the same one I'd kept from my DC1s birth.

I packed a tankini top but was way too far gone to contemplate putting it on when it came time to get into the pool! I think I remember getting in in the top half of the outfit that I was wearing, so a t shirt and bra. I also think that by the time I gave birth to DS (had to get out of the pool for the final bit) I was totally naked. No idea when I took my t shirt off. It was really the last thing on my mind.

Another one here who wore nothing. I’d packed a bikini top but couldn’t be arsed getting it on, was just desperate to get in the water.

That’s how I knew DS2s arrival was imminent, when I wanted to get naked in the waiting room of the maternity assessment unit Grin

I wore a support vest top. No way did I want to be naked.

First time I'd stripped off as soon as the midwife left the room to get something after she'd got the pool ready.
Second time I got out of the car outside the unit with my pants round my ankles and the midwives getting dh to hold his coat up to protect my modesty (I couldn't have cared less, as baby was imminent)
As soon as I entered the room everything came off and I was in the pool with 2 minutes to spare.

I am also very shy about my body generally, but labour does something to me.

Nothing!

I was like you op - packing a bikini etc - but honestly when it came down to it I didn't care at all what I wore. I just stripped down naked except for my bra and got straight in! I was concentrating so hard on making it through each contraction that the thought of what to wear really didn't even enter my mind.
