Baby on 90th centile (fundal height) how much did they actually weigh at birth?

Hi, if anyone had their baby plot at 90th centile on their growth chart based off fundal height/measurements only - no scans, how much did they weigh at birth? Smile

9lb 3 at 41 weeks. She was very long and not really chubby. Normal delivery, only a small tear.

I'm not sure on centiles as my area don't use a chart but my fundal height since 28wks was 2wks ahead. He was 9lb5oz at 40wks (induced)

I did have scans as they are standard here. I just have bigger babies, he was my 4th. No gestational diabetes.

No gestational diabetes here either, both my babies tracked above 90th percentile on the fundal height measurements, ds was 8lb 5oz born at 40w +8, dd was 8lb 10oz at 40w +10. No induction with either, ds resulted in episiotomy, dd I had a couple of stitches for a small tear. Interestingly ds continues to be around the 91st percentile for height and weight, hes now 2yrs old. Dd is sitting right on the 50% line though at 4 months.

Fundal height is nonsense. My baby was over 90th centile at 31 weeks so I got referred for a growth scan and she's actually only on 50th so bang average! I'm almost 6ft so have been told she'll always measure big because my torso is "longer than average" 🙄

mynameiscalypso · 26/02/2020 11:08

I was referred for a growth scan because fundal height was 90th percentile - baby was less than 7 lbs when born at 39 weeks.

Irishgirl55 · 26/02/2020 11:36

@mamaAJ I've been worried about this too. I was measured last week at 37 weeks and measuring 37cm - which apparently is where it should be but I've been on the 90th centile line for every measurement and worried I'm going to end up birthing a hippo!

Sillybillypoopoomummy · 26/02/2020 11:39

DS was this - always measuring super long. He came out at 7lb 13 - so dead on the 50th centile :-)

CornishPasties · 26/02/2020 11:47

We had tons of growth scans because w ery time they meausred babys fundal height he was measuring at 95th percentile and eventually i was induced early due to worrying about how big baby was going to be. Baby actually turned out to be dinky under 7 pounds and meausred on the 9th percentile when born. I would honestly take it all with a large pinch of salt.

PSL1990 · 26/02/2020 15:14

I was 2 or 3 weeks ahead by fundal height each time I was measured and my baby was born at 40+9 weighing 9lbs5oz

Hopefulbride18 · 26/02/2020 15:20

My fundal height measurement was off the chart and they kept saying he was going to be huge.. came naturally at 38+5 and 7lbs10.

It is really so unreliable and can vary even by which midwife does it!

MyEnormousTurnip · 26/02/2020 15:25

38+4 7lb 2oz

Littlemissdaredevil · 27/02/2020 21:34

My DD was measuring 90th centile on every measurement. She arrived at 38+2 weighing 6lbs 7oz (36th centile). If I had gone to 40w she would have been a very average 7lbs something not the 9lbs predicted!

nonicknameseemsavailable · 27/02/2020 21:58

mine were both apparently going to be 75th centile going by FH measurements. they were actually just either side of 10lb! the measurements are rubbish

Nelly325 · 27/02/2020 22:05

9lbs exactly at 40 weeks +4 days

KHR1 · 28/02/2020 09:46

98th percentile for height, born 41+4 weighing 8lb 14oz. She is just long and thin!
