C- section 5 days ago and poop is black

Hi I had a c section 5 days ago and when I poop it’s black, I am on blood thinning tablets and have been taking stuff to make me go, is this normal or should I be concerned?

Are you taking any iron tablets? They make your poop black.

Mine was very very dark green due to the iron I was taking. Call your midwife (you should still be under their care) if you're concerned.

I’m taking ferrous sulfsate tablets, they say it’s to prevent iron deficiency anaemia.

You will have been a bit constipated and this is the result. It should sort itself in the next few days but mention it to mw.

Ok thankyou, I feel reassured now, got the midwife coming out tomorrow so will mention it to her still.

It's deffinately the iron tablets your taking I've been on them for a while now and your poo is constantly black because of it.

That what I was on. Totally normal. They should have warned you.
