2nd degree tear - fresh blood with bowel movement

Hi,

I had my DD on Friday and had a 2nd degree tear. It was going okay but yesterday had a very painful bowel movement and just now when I had another one there was lots of fresh blood which I think is from the stitch site.

Should I be worried or is it normal that it might bleed a bit after a strain. I put pressure on the stitches during so wasn't as painful when going

Thank you

I had fresh blood with every bowel movement too. Are you using a stool softener?

Ah so it's not just me, I've been trying not to worry but it's hard when you can't see it.

I haven't but I will get some. I can't wait until it's healed

Get some movicol. You can have that if breastfeeding as well. Really annoys me that they don't pre-warn you about potential bowel problems after giving birth. In fact in the US you're actually given laxatives when you're discharged. I learnt the hard way with my dd and made sure with ds that I started taking stool softener the day I left hospital. Hope you get some relief soon. X
