Am I in early labour??

Hello,

39+6 today with my first and I’ve thus far, had no braxton hicks or any signs of labour. Have had quite a comfortable pregnancy up to about a week ago when I started to feel a lot more pressure, my last midwife appointment was last week and the midwife told me baby’s head it 2/5 engaged and won’t be going any further without contractions now.

All day today I have been experiencing tightenings pretty regularly. I’m not sure exactly how often as I have been busy cleaning and doing various other jobs and they were completely painless. Since sitting down for some food about an hour ago I’ve noticed the tightenings are quite regular. I would say about 10 mins apart. Still painless and I have not yet lost my plug or waters.

Are these just braxton hicks or could I be in early labour?

Sorry for being a bit slow here, no idea what anything should feel like and don’t want to bother the midwife if I am simply experiencing BH.

Thanks :)

Loooong (like 2hr+) walk did it for me both times (both about a week overdue) - but I realise it's dark now and you're being induced tomorrow so my advice may be a bit late!

Hope all.goes well

Thanks all! Currently 12 hours since I had the pessary and having mild contractions every 5 or so minutes. DP has gone home as the midwife said there wasn’t a lot of point in him staying and I felt guilty making him sleep on a crappy pop up bed with a woman labouring next door and her husband who has quite severe Tourette’s! Trying to get some sleep now myself with my ear plugs in but, the contractions are keeping me awake anyway.

Will update tomorrow! 🤞🏻 X

Hi all!

My beautiful baby girl was born on Wednesday 16th October 2019 at 9:38am, weighing 7lbs 9oz.

It was a slightly more complicated labour than I had planned, which ended in an emergency caesarean as, baby’s heart rate kept dropping every time I had a contraction. Turns out she was absolutely fine and just being a drama queen like her mum! Currently still on the post natal ward, being woken up by her every 10 minutes for a feed. Think I’ve had about 4 hours sleep since Tuesday morning but, I wouldn’t change it for the world. She is absolutely perfect and DP and I are so in love already.
