So so painful!

Someone please help!!!
My baby is two weeks old and I'm suffering with horrendous pain in my bum.
Sorry TMI
I've developed Hemorrhoids and I'm an AGONY!!!
Every day I dread going to the loo the pain is like passing glass!!! The toilet is full of blood after I've been. I'm doing everything I can not to be constipated but I find that I'm that scared of going that I'm not fully emptying myself when I do go because of the pain! After I've been to the loo I'm in agony for hours as it is just throbbing and stinging.
I've tried creams and salt baths. But nothing is helping. I really don't want to go to GP as I'm embarrassed and it's just so painful!
I've had a look myself and it's definitely Hemorrhoids I'd say the size of a small grape!! I'm worried that this pain will continue. Please can anyone offer any advice. Has anyone else suffered with this? It's literally bringing me to tears and stopping me enjoying my new baby!
Thanks in advance. Xx

To the Dr with you. Lactulose is your new best friend.

Soontobe60 · 06/08/2019 14:53

First of all, take paracetamol every 4 hours. Drink gallons of water and keep on using lots of haemorrhoid cream. It will pass. Get an appointment with the GP. too.

Soontobe60 · 06/08/2019 14:54

Also fybogel sachets.

Sabee · 06/08/2019 17:12

Which cream are you using? Have you tried anusol with hydrocortisone in it? It comes with a nozzle. You need to try out different ones until you find one that works. You need to shrink it as well as numb it.

In the meantime, eat lots of insoluble fibre, that will help you go and keep poo soft - if you eat too much insoluble fibre, it’s a bit harder on digestive system. Kiwis, ripe melons and peaches - they will help.

Drink loads of water - you need more than you think you need. Seriously, it helps keep poo soft and your digestive system moving.

Go loo only when you get urge, and try squatting - I have loads of digestive issues, and I squat eastern style on loo when I need to go. May look weird but who cares, It makes you go quicker. As soon as you finish, sit down. Don’t strain - ever!

Try not to sit on bottom too much, lie on side...

Do pelvic floor exercises - it helps with that whole area.

I have tried to remember everything, hope it helps! It can be horrendous, I know.

JohnLapsleyParlabane · 06/08/2019 17:15

I've found suppositories helpful. Get them in boots or the supermarket if you don't want to speak to someone. But do go to your GP. The arse grapes were the worst but of pregnancy, labour, delivery and post-partum for me.

HarrietSchulenberg · 06/08/2019 17:15

Preparation H or Anusol are about to become your new best friends. Use them and things will def get better.

Sabee · 06/08/2019 17:16

If it’s the size of a small grape, I’d say you need to mention to GP - they will have seen it all before, but you prob will get something stronger which should help shrink it.

ChipInTheSugar · 06/08/2019 17:21

Seconding the lactulose recommendations! And get something to use as a "poo stool" (no pun intended!). Something to put your feet up on while you're on the loo, raising them 6-10".

Mrsbclinton · 06/08/2019 17:23

You poor thing, I will never forget the agony of the post childbirth piles.

Go to the doctor and get them to check you out.
They will recommend/ prescribe something.

As others have recommended plenty of water, fruit etc to keep everything moving.
I hope you get some relief soon.

FindaPenny · 06/08/2019 17:24

When you are pooping do your best to blow out your lips like a horse neighing, keep doing it and it helps with any spasms you might have. Also press on the area just above your anus as you are pooping.... It helps you to poop without putting to much pressure on your arsehole, for want of a better word. I had a fissure so slightly different, but these methods cured me after about 6-7 months of suffering.

veanne1 · 06/08/2019 17:28

Someone suggested paracetamol, and although i agree it will help with the pain, please be aware that it's not safe to take paracetamol long term, it can do major harm to your organs if taken for too long. If you need to take it for more than a few days, then please get advice from a doctor.

Cyclemad222 · 06/08/2019 18:06

I thought I had piles, turns out it was a fissure...

Laxatives have helped. Also flax/linseed soaked in water 1tsp a day, eating a TON of veg and fruit and not much bread and white carbs. Lots of water too.

Also dab with loo roll, maybe wet it a bit first too, rather than wiping.

magicnumber8 · 06/08/2019 18:11

Anusol didn't help my horrifically painful post-birth piles - get to your GP for a prescription of Scheriproct cream. It was almost instant relief as it contains a local anaesthetic, and it's a much stronger prescription than Anusol.

MrsXx4 · 06/08/2019 18:12

I had the same after giving birth! Was worse than the actual giving birth!! Honestly go to the gp i didn’t even need to show them I just told them and was prescribed (I think) naproxen(?!) absolutely saved me! I couldn’t sit, stand, walk etc! Was hideous!! In literally 2 days the pain had gone and 5 days after birth I was out walking with my pram happy as larry!! They all shrunk on there own as well so I didn’t need any further treatment. Good luck!

Smile18 · 06/08/2019 18:14

Thank you all for your advice. I can't tell you how much pain I am in. I've literally cried all day!! I've used Germaloid cream and Xyloproct which haven't helped at all. I've had three salt baths today and nothing's working. I'm breastfeeding so unfortunately can't use Anusol. I feel the "bulge" is getting bigger though. I'm worried that it will burst!! I can't sit and really struggle to walk. I need relief now but nothing is helping. I have a 12 year old, one year old and a two week old and my husband is back at work next week and I'm just not sure I'll cope with the pain I'm in. Xx

I'm sorry but are you having us on? You are too embarrassed to go to your GP about piles so will put up with the pain of "shitting glass". Ok then.

MrsCharlesBrandon · 06/08/2019 18:25

Go to the dr! They have seen it all. In the mean time though, Germaloids do a suppository (sp?) that's really good, has a painkiller in and helps lubricate too.

I feel for you, I had a fissure and it took ages to heal.

TreesoftheField · 06/08/2019 18:31

You need to be drinking a pint of water with each feed you give baby. Otherwise all your fluids is going in the milk leaving you with dried up poo pebbles!
You need Scleriproct which is prescription only and safe when breastfeeding. Doctor won't ask to see, it's very common in post natal women.
Avoid processed food. Particularly white bread..... Pears, prunes, sweet potato and kidney beans are all good fibre sources. Used to eat prunes during night feeds!

CraftyGin · 06/08/2019 18:35

This isn’t typical. You need to speak to your midwife.

One of my midwives advised to take a magazine into the toilet and just read it without thinking about what you are doing there. (I suppose that means an iPad nowadays).

MeanGirls1 · 06/08/2019 18:36

Definitely use laculose! And don't stop until it's better! I had this and literally cried before, on and after going to the toilet! It got so bad I was having panic attacks! If you somehow manage to become constipated I wouldn't recommend using laxatives, for me it resulted in having contraction like pains for hours on end I even had to go to A&E and felt like I was in labour again (sorry tmi)Blush the dr told me if there was blood it could be internal hemmaroids which you should really go to the drs to get treatment for, hope this helps! I know your pain!

Penelopevain · 06/08/2019 18:36

OP, drink 3 litres of water a day. Trust me.

MrsXx4 · 06/08/2019 18:44

I was breastfeeding and they gave me anusol at the hospital?! Plus was prescribed naproxen and took paracetamol! You really need to get the the gp now, I was exactly the same as what you are describing!

PixieLumos · 06/08/2019 18:53

I really don't want to go to GP as I'm embarrassed and it's just so painful!

You just had a baby two weeks ago - I don’t think my dignity and sense of shame returned as quickly as that. Go see you’re GP for goodness sake.

icecreamsundae32 · 06/08/2019 19:52

Freeze a sanitary pad and wear it. It helps numb the pain when you are sitting down. Seriously go to gp they don't care. I'd never had piles before and I thought I had a tumour or something and was so embarrassed to be told "oh it's only piles" Grin

Smile18 · 06/08/2019 20:52

Thank you all for your supportive comments. I will book GP appointment tomorrow. I'm in so much pain I can feel it when I walk. I'm drinking about 8 pints of water a day. I genuinely have a healthy diet so not sure why this has happened. Sad
