Had my daughter 8 weeks ago and post natal bleeding continued for a good 4/5 weeks.
Over the last few days have had somethign like a discharge - sporadic, only small amounts but dark, not red at all.....old blood? A few days before it began i felt some mild crampy period pains and had sex with DH.
So.... is it usual for the first period to be like this or has husband damaged me?!!

My bleeding went on for longer than I expected it to, and then more bleeding (dark, sounds similar) when I thought it had all finished. I had this with both my babies. I would doubt your husband has damaged you and it could well be that your periods have started again. I'd say get to the doc just in case though.

I thought I had a light period about 8 wks after birth (after postnatal bleeding for 6 weeks). But with hindsight I realised it was just more postnatal bleeding - only got first real period after a year!

...a year!!!!! Though mayb shouldnt complain really?!

If it turns out to be a period...though dont think so cos its still very dark this morning.... are there any guidlines bout using Tampons? I presume its ok for me to use them?

Orchide are you exclusively breast feeding?

If you are it's unlikely to be a period yet, not impossible but very unlikely. dd2 is 10 weeks old tommorow and up until about 2 weeks ago I was having on/off brown discharge/bleeding.
Sounds like old blood to me.

I have just given up on the bf front after 10 weeks of stuggling so I'll be awaiting my AF now.

Sorry forgot to say. You shouldn't use a tampon until after your 6/8 weeks check apparently. As they don't appear to do an internal at that check I'm not sure what difference it makes. I think it has something to do with your cervix taking time to close properly and tampons may increase the risk of infection.
