Hello! I did actually give birth!

After labouring at home with my TENS machine on Sunday afternoon we headed off to the hospital at about midnight where they found I was already 5cm dilated (yay me!)

Got taken down to the pool room and used gas & air & the pool when it was ready. It was going great until I was evacuated down the corridor because of a fire in the cupboard next door!

I didn't care though & I used the gas & air, got to 10cm & pushing but he wasn't moving down. They let me push for an extra hour (2hrs in total) before calling in the consultant to discuss using forceps to turn him because he was coming face first.

Anyway, it needed to be done so off we went to theatre for a spinal (highly recommended, it was amazing!) but the forceps failed so I had an emergency section & baby Alexander was born weighing in at 8lb 10oz and he's beautiful!

So, so happy even though a section was the last thing I wanted (as I'm sure you all know) but at least I know I can do the whole natural labour thing when it comes to next time!
