Title says it all really. Currently 38+1 but now reached the stage where I'm hoping bubba decides to join us sooner rather than later! Not my first baby so fingers crossed - others arrived between 38-40 weeks. Dr attempted sweep yesterday (early I know but other issues going on and I'm keen to avoid more formal induction as a result of these) but cervix so high she couldn't reach it successfully. Feeling very uncomfortable, hardly slept in weeks and got continual backache!

Anyone else want some company and freedom to rant/moan away these last few weeks (or days if we're lucky)???

My appts have been running slightly early so this was technically 40 wks and she mentioned it as a possibility so I jumped on it as, like you, I wanted to know what was happening down there.

They should be fine to do one at your nex appt, hopefully you have more going on than I do!

Nocturnalpearl · 01/05/2019 21:10

Feeling for you all. I've ordered a Chinese and eaten an Easter egg to console myself!
Diet starts........whenever this baby shows up I guess Wink

peanacat · 01/05/2019 21:31

Haha! I freaked out earlier cuz I got on the scales and thought I’d piled a stone on overnight, turns out my hilarious dh was pressing on it behind me!

Yeh if she mentions it, or even if she doesn’t I’m going to ask for one. I was running early for my appts too but I had to have extra growth scans and stuff so somehow I’ve ended up a few days behind now which is a shame!

RCC18 · 01/05/2019 21:37

I've eaten one of my 2 year olds Easter eggs tonight, and I dont even feel guilty. I need it more than she does right now Haha.

Standing on the scales sounds like something my OH would do!

Dg89 · 01/05/2019 21:41

39+2 and going to be induced tomorrow. Medical reasons on my side. Been so fed up. 3rd DC feel like I've been pregnant forever and sore and aching. Can't wait to meet DC nervous tho now

RCC18 · 01/05/2019 21:46

Dg19 good luck!! Have you been induced before? Hope it goes smoothly for you.

Nocturnalpearl · 01/05/2019 21:59

Good luck Dg89. Please let us know your news! Xx

NannyPear · 01/05/2019 22:39

Good luck dh89!

peanacat · 02/05/2019 07:32

Well I really thought something was happening last night, woke up at half 3 to painful period type pains in front and back, and had to get up and go to the toilet, but alas, it fizzled out, again!

Though my heartburn which has been awful wasn’t bad when I was trying to get back to sleep last night like normal so maybe it was her engaging a bit more! Still hopeful!

And good luck dg89!

NannyPear · 02/05/2019 21:26

This baby has always been very active in the evenings/night time but it's getting so uncomfortable :( every time he head butts my cervix I get uterine tightenings (only way I can describe it) and it's so frustrating as well as being uncomfy. Goes on for hours every night.

Bleurgh. 2 says till EDD.

Nocturnalpearl · 02/05/2019 21:54

I'm like that nannypear, baby most active at night. It keeps giving me fanny daggers too (Confused). So painful!

littlethings1234 · 03/05/2019 10:19

I'm still here. 39 weeks exactly now.

Been having to have regular growth scans. My recent scan suggests that babies growth may have plateaued so I've now been given 2 options. The first is induction (cervix currently too high for sweep), the second is to go in each day for ctg and monitoring of movements. Not sure what to do for the best and hate that the responsibility of this decision is being left to me really. I would never forgive myself if I didn't opt for the induction and something turned out to be awfully wrong but at the same time I'm worried about induced labours being longer, more painful and at higher risk of intervention. Would anyone be so kind as to share their experiences please? For context this is baby #4. First two natural spontaneous labours at 38/39 weeks no issues, third labour following sweep at 38+5 - forceps delivery.

Thanks all in advance!

littlethings1234 feel for you having the decision put in your hands!

I was induced with DD1 at 40+12. It was a long couple of days with not much happening. I had to have 2 pessaries and then the drip. They then broke my waters. I opted for an epidural after that as, unlike natural labour, there is no build up to the contractions and i felt them to be too intense. From there it was a very relaxed and positive experience and baby arrived 5 hours later. I was just physically exhausted as the whole process had taken so long, and I think that impacted my first week or 2 with the baby.

Despite this, part of me is ok with being induced again as it is more controlled and there are options available.

Hope this helps, sure you will make the right decision and meet your little one soon!

NannyPear · 04/05/2019 04:22

Happy due date to me! Felt a bit emotional last night and hoped it was hormones signalling labour but then I realised it's more likely the deflation that comes from this big built up to due date. Was the same when DS's came. Gonna try and make sure I get out and enjoy the day and don't mope about feeling sorry for my split pelvis 😁 get the oxytocin going somehow!

Nocturnalpearl · 04/05/2019 06:22

Littlethings I'm afraid I can't offer any advice as have never been induced myself but have friends who have and some have had really positive experiences. My gut instinct would be to get induced and get baby out at this stage but it's a really hard decision to make. I feel for you.
Nannypear - happy due date. Go out for lunch and treat yourself. X

littlethings1234 · 04/05/2019 06:59

@Nocturnalpearl thank you! Good to hear there are positive experiences. They tried one last sweep at 5pm last night which they said went well this time but no movement yet. Back in for monitoring again today but if baby not here they've booked me in for induction on tomorrow evening! Nervous but excited lol

Thanks @RCC18 also! Good to know your do it again if you needed to despite your experience. The decision has thankfully been taken out of my hands anyway....if I don't go into labour following my sweep yesterday afternoon I have to be induced tomorrow so little one should hopefully be here fit and well soon enough!

peanacat · 05/05/2019 19:14

I had my baby on friday night, 1 hour 23 minutes before her due date!! Managed a normal pool birth but had a 2nd degree tear and stitches. They aren’t painful though so it’s all good!

Hope your little ones come soon!

Nocturnalpearl · 06/05/2019 08:34

I had a baby girl on Saturday via waterbirth. She's beautiful! 🥰 good luck to all you still waiting! It's worth the wait! X

NannyPear · 07/05/2019 09:08

Congrats pearl!

I had my baby boy last night, 40+2, at 8.57pm after a very slow early labour and nice and fast established labour. Over the moon :)

NannyPear · 07/05/2019 09:10

And congrats peanacat! I had a pool birth at home, and had a second degree tear too. Gutted as had one with DS1 as well. Off my face on gas and air for the stitches. But all feeling fine today. Wishing speedy perineal repairs!!

littlethings1234 · 07/05/2019 15:22

Congrats to all you newly delivered ladies! Our little one was also born yesterday morning after a smooth induction managed with just 2 gels followed by a very fast, intense yet perfect labour! Over the moon x
