Hi all,

This is my 2nd baby. First was born via c section at 40+5. ( failure to progress)

I've been getting a period like pain but only on my left side, it comes and goes , sometimes with tightening of my stomach and sometimes not!
It's definitely noticeable.
I'm due to drive 2 hours to see MIL now, should i be worried?!

I've had this once before at about 37weeks and it went away after an hour.

Anyone had this?

Thank you!

P.s booked for c section on the 9th!

I would call your midwife for advice. It sounds like the start of labour to me and I wouldn't risk driving 2 hours away - depending on where your hospital is

I'm 38+4 and I've been getting period type pains on and off since the end of 37 weeks. It's sometimes on one side as well. I put it down to Braxton Hicks and the baby lying on my nerves. It keeps coming and going and sometimes I need to run to the loo. Still no baby though. Hopefully your midwife might be able to give you some more clarification. These last few weeks are such a rollercoaster aren't they! But I've decided until my I have regular contractions or lose my mucus plug, waters then I'm not going to worry too much.

@Lizbiz89 Thank you. I remember feeling different with my first, i 'knew' i was in labour. I'm hoping it's just that she's lying a bit awkwardly!
I'll give the midwife a call this morning anyway and see what they say too.

@Settlersofcatan thank you, i will call her! X

Sounds like braxton hicks

Elmo311 · 31/03/2019 18:03

Yeah it must be. Midwife said just to monitor as sounds like BH too.
I've drank lots of water etc, but still having them! Annoying!

@Elmo311 it's so annoying isn't it! I had it again at lunch time and I really though this was it. Then after going to loo again it stopped. Such a waiting game. With my dd I never got any Braxton Hicks so when I went for my midwife appointment at 39 +3 weeks with period pains and was told I was in labour and 4cm dilated it was a complete shock! This time I'm getting a lot more false starts 😩.

Elmo311 · 31/03/2019 20:02

@Lizbiz89 false starts are the worst!!!
My BH are quite regular, but no longer any pain. So rolling with it :) having a BH every 6-8 mins 🙄🙄

Doesn't feel like labour contractions though! I am hoping she can stay in there for another 8 days!

I’m 40+4 and have been having period type pains/back ache and some sort of contraction since 6pm yesterday-
Nothing seems to have progressed much though. So frustrating! I’m getting a short 30-40 second contraction mainly in my back around every 15 mins but I keep wondering if it’s just BH too as no other signs, hope things progress for you soon.

Elmo311 · 31/03/2019 20:34

@Nightmanagerfan same back at you, keep me updated :)
They are worth the wait (thankfully!)
