Did you scream during labour?

I'm wondering how often women scream in labour - did you scream during labour?

OP posts:
Polkadotdelight · 24/03/2019 21:21

No but someone else did when I was on the labour ward and it scared me to death!

doleritedinosaur · 24/03/2019 21:21

I did with my third but she was back to back & rotated in my pelvis.

CIT80 · 24/03/2019 21:21

No - it’s more of a ‘mooing’ sound I would say def didn’t scream

moreismore · 24/03/2019 21:22

I didn’t scream but I did make a lot of noise! And it really helped, and I didn’t give a shit. Screaming high pitches sounds mean your jaw is tight which, bizarrely, can make your vagina tight just at the moment when you really don’t want it to be.
Aim for a nice low moo.
I wish I was kidding, Childbirth is so glam.

PhalangeReginaPhalange · 24/03/2019 21:22

CIT you got it, mine was a moo type thing

CalamityJune · 24/03/2019 21:22

No, i can remember groaning during contractions and distinctly remember shouting "for fuck's sake" at one point, but I didn't scream. I'd had an epidural by the time it cane to pushing though.

Biscuitsneeded · 24/03/2019 21:23

I don't think I screamed. I shouted and mooed though, and I remember the midwife saying I was going to have a sore throat (least of my worries, frankly...)

NinnieNouse · 24/03/2019 21:23

I screamed out of frustration. But it must’ve sounded like I was being murdered!

Figgygal · 24/03/2019 21:24

Nope neither time went into myself concentrated on breathing techniques I'd learnt

Ohyesiam · 24/03/2019 21:24

No, I only had the energy to moo. She was back to back though, so warranted a scream or 2, but I just didn’t have it in me.

TurquoiseLagoon · 24/03/2019 21:24

Yup mooing here as well. And maybe a "nguh" kind of noise. No screams.

PCohle · 24/03/2019 21:24

I don't think I "screamed" but I definitely made a lot of noise.

Why do you ask?

Farmerswifey12 · 24/03/2019 21:24

Out of 3, I've screamed once

Bigonesmallone3 · 24/03/2019 21:24

I wouldn't say scream but there was definitely some noises

Ribbonsonabox · 24/03/2019 21:25

Oh yes.
More with my second than my first. I had an epidural with my first but still screamed at the pushing stage more put of effort than pain.
My second was too fast for an epidural and it was the transition stage that made me scream... in fact I discarded the gas and air in order to be able to just scream and scream...
I didnt actually make any noise at the pushing or crowning stage with my second as I was filled with adrenaline and relief that it was nearing the end so didnt feel much. Nor did I really have to make much effort at that point my body just seemed to do it, so I was silent.

lostfrequencies · 24/03/2019 21:26

Yeah I would say I screamed.

Isadora2007 · 24/03/2019 21:26

Kind of guttural yelling- yeah... closer to a moo than a scream as lower pitched. Noisy I bet... at one point I did believe I was being tortured by an ISIS type cell so maybe I screamed a bit during that awful back to back labour with a very stuck nearly 11lb-er.

TrixieFranklin · 24/03/2019 21:26

I asked DH and he said it was more of a hump back whale kind of lowing than a scream. Most amusing apparently Grin

whitehalleve · 24/03/2019 21:26

Nope

dippyeggsandsoldiers · 24/03/2019 21:27

I didn't scream, but my partner said i sounded like a mixture of Chewbacca and a cow mooing.

emwithme · 24/03/2019 21:27

Definitely more of a moo here too. Shocked me the first time I heard myself doing it.

LesLavandes · 24/03/2019 21:27

Yes. I screamed very loudly

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 24/03/2019 21:29

I did with my second but that's becuase she got into an odd position and get stuck. Had contraction pain and a secondary pain from that and it was just too much.

ShesABelter · 24/03/2019 21:29

I did with my first whilst pushing I couldn't control it. She was so painful compared to my other two who I never made a sound with.

peoplearepeople · 24/03/2019 21:31

No. I was really quiet during labour but did then did cry out/shriek when the placenta was delivered. My midwife wasn't very communicative and it gave me a hell of a shock. Shock
