How accurate were your growth scans? (FTM)

I've had 4 growth scans (since 20 weeks - 36 now) and they all show baby as on the 99% centile, following the curve nicely. Head, abdomen are quite large, femur also reasonably high %.

Estimated at 6lb 6oz at 35 weeks already!

People keep telling me growth scans aren't very reliable but how likely is it that they get it very wrong 4 times in a row?! Has anyone had experience with multiple growth scans and how did it end up in terms of baby head size? I'm not too fussed about weight, it's birthing that big head that I'm worried about! LOL

Bluejay19 · 06/12/2018 21:04

I had a several growth scans all says my DD way 80th+ centile for everything. The last growth scan I had was 3 days before she was born and estimated her weight at 8lbs7oz - she wright 6lbs7oz when born so they weren't accurate for her ...

TubbyMcFatfuck · 06/12/2018 21:11

I had growth scans fairly regularly throughout the latter stage of my pregnancy. My baby was following the 99th percentile on the graph. At the last one, 2 weeks before my due date, the sonographer estimated my baby would be "high 9s, maybe 10lb" She was spot on, my baby was 9lb 15oz

levigray3 · 06/12/2018 23:27

Ok so I am 37 weeks + 2 days pregnant Baby measured 7lb 3 oz my other 2 children was 9lb 13oz born 3 days late and my other son was 10lb 08oz born on his due date I think I am going crazy as I am convinced this baby will be big has anyone had one and they predicted that the baby was small they are looking at me like I am mad when I asked to be induced just a wondering if anyone has had a similar experience

levigray3 · 06/12/2018 23:56

Sorry forgot to put I had a scan today and my baby is weighing 7lb 3 oz who pint in my question is has anyone had previous big babies and been told they were a normal size but been born bigger ??

Fishywishyhead · 07/12/2018 00:04

At 39 weeks my 6lb third baby popped out at 8lbs, same as her siblings.

Wingingeverything · 07/12/2018 10:16

Not accurate at all! My first growth scan they said 8lb the second growth scan they said 7lb 3oz and he was born weighing 6lb 3lb at 39+1

McWilde · 07/12/2018 10:26

Not accurate.
I had a growth scan as my bump was huge, DC3 was predicted 11lb, popped out at 8lb. Massive head though and long, so maybe that's what skewed it.
My sister had scans as baby was said to be small, they were going to induce early etc etc. He came out at nearly 11lb. God knows how they missed him being that big!

orangejuicer · 08/12/2018 16:49

Very!!

7lb5 estimate at 36w. 10lb3 born at 39w by ELCS!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 13/12/2018 23:57

I think mine was pretty accurate, estimated 10lb at 40 weeks, born 11 days later at 10lb 11oz!

Stephisaur · 14/12/2018 10:52

Not very!

I was told I had IUGR and my growth scan at 38 weeks had him at 7lb 12oz (smaller than they expected for my size).

He was born exactly a week later at 9lb 3oz, which was above the 90th centile!

cornyunicorn · 15/12/2018 17:35

Still on track for huge baby with latest scan at 38w measuring 8lb 8oz.
No signs of labour yet...! 😳

I was scan regularly because lo was too small, but at full term he was 7 .4 so
Perfect

TowerRingInferno · 15/12/2018 17:52

Very inaccurate.

My ‘too big for dates’ 9lb baby was just over 6lb.

Roomba · 15/12/2018 18:04

Mine were a good 25% out, including the one I had the day before I had DS1. Both DC weighed more than they estimated (fingers crossed your 8lb+ baby isn't 25% heavier though Grin)

SirBobblyofSock · 15/12/2018 18:31

Mine were v accurate up to 32 weeks when I went into early labour. DD was on the 90th centile as had been predicted.

cornyunicorn · 16/12/2018 13:10

Ahaha God help me if that happens @Roomba Blush

Mine was very accurate. Baby came out at exactly the expected weight.

Escolar · 17/12/2018 21:42

My friend was told at her growth scan to expect a 12 pounder!! Luckily it was wrong and he was under 10lb. Good luck OP!

adviceonthepox · 18/12/2018 00:04

First baby growth scan predicted large baby 10lb + delivered at 6lb 9oz
2nd baby told measuring small at 36 weeks predicted 6lb at term delivered 8lb 10 oz at 40 weeks
3rd baby scanned every 2 weeks told at 37 weeks baby would be 7lb max delivered at 38 weeks 9lb 11oz
4th baby last growth scan at 37 weeks baby predicted at 7lb 4oz delivered at 38 weeks 8lb 7oz
The only close one was my last and I kept on all the time that I don't trust the scans and could they please make sure baby wasn't massive 🙈
