This is what's in my hospital bag - what else do I need?

Here's what I've got so far:

Nightie to give birth in
Two button front nighties for afterwards
Cotton knickers (which I am happy to throw out afterwards)
Dressing gown
Slippers
Clothes for going home in
Baby clothes for baby to go home in
Nappies
Sponge Bag (containing hairbrush, anti-perspirant, toothbrush)

Need to add:
Puzzle book or similar
Shampoo
Change for phone
Purse
Maternity notes

The hospital I am going to has fabulous food, tea and coffee and snacks on tap, and is very clean - so I am not planning on taking snacks/flip flops for shower/cleaning materials etc.

Anything else I should have though?

Great thread Miaou - Thanks for the link. It has answered all the questions I have and now I need to get busy and get a bigger bag!

Thanks for the link to the thread Miaou. Think I might need to repack - again!!! (although hopefully won't need it if homebirth goes as planned).

Your maternity unit sounds fantastic. Here the only thing they seem to provide is a birthing ball!

Something substantial to eat when it's all over - flapjack bars, bananas, perhaps sandwiches - I was absolutely starving (so was DP) and the hospital kitchen was closed

My bag is packed but contents still untested... I've included a bottle of that stupid expensive Evian face spray - someone I know told me it's fab to have in labour. I'm also going to take one of my own pillows from home and plenty of chocolate (to keep my strength up and buy favours from staff!!!) Someone else said (maybe on MN can't remember) take things you really love the smell of - handcream/essential oil/whatever can really freshen you up - and your mood. For the first time ever in my life I've also invested in travel bottles - just means I can take all my home comfort products without spilling out of a weekend case. Also just another manifestation of my anal nesting and waiting for baby to come syndrome!... Good luck

Think I better do my bag after reading theis Miaou..

All I have packed is
Breast Pads
Maternity Pads
2 Nighties
Pair of leggings
baby otfit for coming home
One baby hat
2bibs.

need to buy my toiletries.... May pop to the shop now and finish packing..
Add a towel and coming home clothes for me..
The hospitals here provide all baby clothes whilst you are in and all the nappies..( I will be using disposables..)

Need to get my batteries for the camera, books.. sweets and drink for DH and I ... Am hoping only to be in for 4 hrs though after delivery... but planned on this last time and had tro stay in for 24hrs..

Sainsburys maternity pads have wings! Soooo much nicer!

What about taking a small tape/CD player either for your own music, or audio book. My kids were all born to my favourite Terry Pratchett story! I knew the plot well enough to ignore it when the big contractions were on me, but it really helped to distract me and pass the time. Hope it all goes well for you.

Evian fine mist water spray. It was brilliant, especially for water births when the water is 38c!

-Shampoo and Toilietries
-about three changes of baby clothes
-Baby vests
-A pack of nappies
-breastpads
-nappy cream

Need to put in

Toothbrush and toothpaste
my change of clothes
book (may not have time to read it tho)
camera
Maternity Pads and big knickers

Anything i've forgotten I'll get someone to bring in.
