Hi all, can any of you help me? I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl on Monday morning and just got home from hospital yesterday. The birth was undiagnosed breech as after pushing in the pool for over an hour the midwife realised she was breech and in distress so I was rushed to hospital via ambulance from the midwife led unit and given an episiotomy before pushing her out. My stitches are fine and don’t really hurt at all but where my right buttock curves towards my lady bits there are a few lumps that are very raised, feel grazed and are absolute agony! Does anyone know what they are or how they came about or how I can ease the pain? The midwife at the hospital said I was very bruised but these lumps feel raised and red raw? I have ibuprofen, paracetamol and dihydrocodene which helps a little but I can’t understand how I have these lumps that the hospital didn’t even mention?!? Any help would be so very much appreciated Smile

I don’t know what the lumps are but if they are raw feeling a bit of distilled witch hazel sprayed on is heavenly! Gives a nice cooling feeling.

Could it not be swelling from the episiotomy? I haven't had an episiotomy but tore each time I had my 3 dc and remember feeling swollen and distorted down there for a while. Can you peek with a mirror to see exactly what you are looking at?

Thank you so much for your replies. I’ll try a wee spray with witch hazel. A kind visitor has brought me a doughnut pillow which is helping with sitting a bit. I’m far too scared to peek with a mirror yet but will psyche myself up to doing it tomorrow if I don’t see my midwife (she was supposed to pop in today but didn’t). Thanks again, it’s very stingy tonight which I hope is it healing (fingers crossed).

Don't know what is it but congratulations on your baby. Sorry you're in such pain. Hope midwife can help when visits.

So I had a wee peek and the lumps are actually my stitches as it looks like I’ve been cut at diagonally. Last night was horrendous but this morning I’ve made up a wee diy spray with distilled witch hazel, aloe vera, clary sage and frankincense which I’ve sprayed on my maternity pad after my shower and ooooohhhhhh the relief! Fingers crossed I’m on the way to healing now (still dreading the first poo though Shock). Thanks for your help ladies xx

Re: first poo - Dulcoease is your friend! I was TERRIFIED but everything was a-ok! Good luck

Op, get some arnica tablets they really help with healing.

Just a wee update...I managed a poo (yay me!! Thank you syrup of figs lol) and I’ve got arnica tablets coming tomorrow. The midwife popped in today too and it all looks like it’s healing well. What a relief! Thank you for all your help and advice, it’s very much appreciated Grin
