Labour or food poisoning?! (TMI sorry)

Sorry if TMI ladies...
I’m 39+5... I woke up at half 2 this morning with the most awful pain across the front of my tummy, it came and went a bit, I got up and had a poo. An hour or so later I’m sat on the loo with some pretty bad diarreah, the pain’s still there but isn’t coming and going at regular intervals. I’ve been sick once but not violently. I can’t decide if this is labour or the on set of a tummy bug or something?! I already have 1 DD and this doesn’t feel anything like when I was in labour with her! Opinions please?! Trying to decide whether to send the little one to MIL just I case...

I would get prepared.

I had strong pains/poops and vomitted with onset of DS1 labour. Not with my other though.

Yeah I would make sure bag is packed just in case, sounds like it could be a big old clear out before the main event. Labour is so lovely! Good luck, hope everything goes smoothly for you Flowers

Sounds like labour or pre labour to me. If it isn't tailing off I would get LO to MIL and bag ready. You might have a 'pause' of a few hours btwn this and labour starting or it might go straight into it. Good luck!

Yeah that’s what I thought, labour was only 8 hours with DD so I’d better get DH woken up soon Grin

Sounds like little one is about to make an appearance! I'd get ready to go, make sure your DH or whoever is with you is ready too, bag by the door and phone fully charged, might be worth giving the midwife unit a quick call as well if you're worried Thanks

Its how I started with dc1 but never did it with the other two. The midwife had popped in that morning and I’d chatted with her. She said after she had been able to feel some contractions starting but hadn’t wanted to say as it could have been a slow start but it was all done that day.
Good luck 😊

I had this last week and am same far along as you. I called labour ward and they said if contractions lead to d, it’s a tummy bug. If they don’t always lead to d it could be labour

It could be pre labour but even if it is, the real thing could still be a way off. I'd just make sure your bags are packed and mother in law is on alert but I wouldn't take your child just yet unless she lives quite a distance away. The hospital probably won't entertain you coming in until you've had definite regular contractions. They wouldn't let me come in for ages because I sounded too calm on the phone. My son was born about 20 minutes after I got there. Don't get me wrong, it was brilliant to be giving birth so quickly after arriving, but I did feel as though it was a bit of a close call 😂

This is exactly how I am this morning. 36+6 weeks. I had backache last night, didn't sleep and this morning I've had cramps across the top exactly as you've described along with the diarrhoea. Third baby but I don't remember having this with my other two. And I was overdue with them both so not really expecting it to be anything yet!

hethajf · 05/08/2018 09:03

Eurgh, everything’s eased off now. I don’t think there’s physically anything left inside me and the cramps have slowed right down. I’m still hopeful but will have to wait and see if things get going again!
DD has gone to her grandmas anyway because she heard me mention it to DH and got super excited Grin

I've still got that feeling of needing to be emptied out Grin we're at our friends' house as well, two hours away from home which isn't helping. I'm convinced mine is just the takeaway I had Friday night, but a little (hopeful) bit of me is wondering if things are starting to happen.

hethajf · 05/08/2018 09:22

Ha ha ha, same here! I had Chinese on Friday which I don’t normally do but I was sooooo hungry, I haven’t been able to eat much for weeks but I can stuff myself silly now that baby’s moved down a bit!

Bizarrely, I could just murder a Chinese now despite feeling sick!! I'd be so happy if this was the start of things. I'm measuring really big, and got told by the midwife on Friday that I need to try whatever I can to get the baby out now. Fingers crossed!
