If you went 2 weeks or more overdue with your first child, when did your second arrive?

Amuse me as I count down the days: if you went two weeks or even more overdue first time, what happened second time?

People keep telling me it won't be as late this time, but I'm curious what others actually experienced with their second.

Exactly as late. Sweep both times, later that evening waters broke. I was officially 40+19 or something when they arrived, but scan dates moved me early, I went into labor on my 42w date both times.

KitchenFloor · 24/07/2018 00:23

They were exactly the same weight too, which is the same weight I was 😁

timeisnotaline · 24/07/2018 00:25

You won’t get many who’ve gone over two weeks as they will recommend to induce. I was induced at 12 days over (but didn’t need hormones just waters breaking so was nearly ready), and second came naturally (did have a sweep that day) at 8 days over. Maybe one day I’ll have a baby by term!

DappledThings · 24/07/2018 13:29

DC1 induced at 12 days over. DC2 spontaneous at 2 days early

CloudCaptain · 24/07/2018 13:30

My first was 10 days over. Dc2 was 2 days overdue. But labour was fast and easy in comparison to ds1.

First 2 weeks overdue - arrived when I was booked in for induction. Second a week early, and the weather was just like it is now.

Waterlemon · 24/07/2018 18:05

16 days late for first! Hospital closed for new admissions as they were so busy! I had to wait for an induction.

And #2 was induced at 14 days overdue!

I was ”small for dates” when I carried #1 but HUGE when I carried #2, so I convinced myself that meant #2 was going to arrive early, and moved my due date forward 2 weeks in my head! So the last 4 weeks were hellish!

Vampyress · 24/07/2018 22:40

My first was 2 weeks over due and my second arrived exactly a week after my due date. The difference was 36 hours labour with first and mild grazing on my lady parts to 8 hours with second and being able to pee quite comfortably within 3 hours of delivery. Both were 9 pounders and had to be induced as they had passed meconium inside me though (keep an eye out for khaki/greenish amniotic fluid as you need to get straight to the maternity ward). Expecting my 3rd in 2 weeks, no doubt he will wind up being late too Grin x

Vampyress · 24/07/2018 22:41

Oh and I meant to say, my waters had to be broken with my first but broke naturally with my second on the morning I was due to be induced Smile

twoheaped · 24/07/2018 22:42

Induced at 10 days over with number 1 and 16 days over with number 2.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 24/07/2018 22:42

My mother tells me that I was 2 weeks late. My younger sister was 2 weeks and 1 day early.

xyzandabc · 24/07/2018 22:43

1st 40+12 induced
2nd 40 +10 spontaneous
3rd 40 +13 spontaneous

I don't do being early!

Treaclespongeandcustard · 24/07/2018 22:46

2 weeks late both times, sorry op Flowers

Freefalling123 · 24/07/2018 22:46

First induced (twice) at 9 and 10 days and took 48 hours from first induction, second was dead on due date and took 4 hours! And was 9lbs vs DC1 at 8lbs.

donkeysandzebras · 24/07/2018 22:51

DC1 - 42+1 after induction process started at 41 + 6. I had had three sweeps before then with no luck. DC1 weighed 8lbs13, could pretty much support her own head & several MW & other staff commented on how developed she was for a newborn.

DC2 - 41 + 4 after a sweep that day. No other sweeps before then as the community MW had been off sick (still a bit confused why no one else could have done it). 7lbs 11 and a real new born. The fact his head kept lolling here & there was a bit of a surprise!

RifRafia · 24/07/2018 22:53

Hate to tell you that both of mine had to be induced as 14 days over Confused

RandomMess · 24/07/2018 23:02

All 4 DC ended up being induced even when I hung on to 42 +3, all big birth-weights as well!

RandomMess · 24/07/2018 23:04

Have to say mine all had lots of neck strength and control and were very much not like newborns, I was robbed!

Terramirabilis · 26/07/2018 17:19

My first was 13 days overdue when my waters broke and started contractions later that day. Not born until the next day though. Have induction booked for 2 weeks' time although the midwife seems very confident I won't make it that far so fingers crossed!

He was very alert and engaged for a newborn but not particularly large. Perhaps I just need to cook them for longer!

went into labour with my second actually on my due date... but I did have to have my waters broken in the end as they wanted to speed things up, but did avoid pessary and drip.

was two weeks overdue with my first and induced with the drip!

Westwing1 · 26/07/2018 17:34

1st was 15 days 'late', midwife wanted to induce after 7 days late but I said no and waited, 2nd was 8 days 'late', midwife was very keen I walk a lot to get things moving, both were normal size, just over 7 lbs, no problems, some gas and air. 2nd labour was quicker (2 hrs) but was back to back so a bit tough. Worth it though. Smile I didn't mind them being 'late', quite easy going about it. I remember I did go a bit mad during second pregnancy and insisted I needed a big wooden playpen before baby 2 arrived. Good luck.

grace7 · 26/07/2018 17:36

This isn't me personally, but I came almost 3 weeks late (I was due in April but arrived 18th May!), my little sister came 15 days late and then my little brother 6 days late.

Olissa8 · 26/07/2018 19:05

DS induced at 42 weeks exactly and arrived the next day. DD1 spontaneous labour at 42+4. DD2 and DD3 both elective CS but I asked for them at 40 weeks, thought there was very little risk of labour beforehand!
