Experiences of protein shakes after childbirth?

Has anyone got any, positive or negative, experience of drinking protein shakes after the birth - i know after DD1 i was shattered, am generally very tired and low on protein. I don't really like meat, and find it hard to eat lots of. Am really shattered right now, am on max iron dosage but am not getting above “very extremely tired”.
Wondering whether anyone noticed any adverse effects on the baby, eg milk allergies. Thanks.

Floradix is your friend

Try Spatone. Not sure how protein shakes will affect your digestive system. FWIW, I'm two and a half weeks post DC2 and in far better physical shape than I was after DC1.
You might get a pleasant surprise and find the second much easier.

Ask your midwife to check your haemoglobin levels are ok and really take care of your diet and medication regimen before the birth. I was well prepared this time and think it made all the difference.

Ask for lactulose if they give you iron pills.

Seconding the Floradix, have mild anemia and it was recommended by every HCP I saw. Personally I don't find it especially disgusting (I know some do though) and it really helps.

Yep, am already on high dose of floradix, prefer it to spatone, also lactulose (taken at different times though) and have insisted upon a ferritin test! Waiting for results. Hb levels were surprisingly at the lower end of normal and not viewed with worry.

I actually like the taste of floradix - its a bit like fernet branca without the alcohol. weird

Are you taking plenty of vitamin c? Helps wth iron absorption. I used to mix my floradix in a glass of orange juice.
