I just wondered what other people's experiences were, particularly with 2nd or 3rd babies. I've been told it's quite rare for head to engage so early, since this is my 3rd baby. Not sure if it means anything or am I just getting my hopes up?!

Could be any time in the next 6 weeks!

Don't mean to be flippant but if you hope for an early labour then you set yourself up for a hard wait if you go past 40 weeks! I know I decided my baby was going to be earlier than the scan edd which was brought forward 9 days from my LMP, so ended up having a looooooooong wait till 42+1 scan.

Plan to go late and then if you labour early it will be a bonus! (just make sure that you have your labour things together early in case!)

Enjoy the twilight of your pg! It's so exciting!

I guess I know that really...I've had 1 early & 1 on date so maybe I'm due an overdue one!

When people ask how long to go I have been saying "Any time in the next 6 weeks" but this has been quite a challenging pregnancy so I guess that's why I've been mulling it over. Kind of intrigued to know if head engaging has any bearing on when labour starts...

Hopefully there may be some experiences posted soon which may support your theory and give you hope but I'd still say expect the 6 weeks....

Sorry, you've had a challenging time with the pg, it will all be worth it in the end, won't it!

dd engaged at, oh around 36 weeks, then had on off contractions from 38 weeks and was 8 days over when she finally arrived after a sweep
sorry!

DS (11 weeks old now) is my second and engaged at 35 weeks, but was still 13 days late....

Familygirl - with you on this! Mine has dropped at 38wks and have been having Ctx on and off for a week...was so excited, but nothing seems to be happening!!
Looks like it isn't a sure sign of anything, reading everyone's posts.

Hang in there...sorry you've had a rough pregnancy, can relate to that as well xx

It sure is a waiting game-seems forever now but I know it's not long in the grand scheme of things!

It's not an exact science.

DS1's notes say he was engaged by 32 weeks? He came at 38+6

DS2's notes say he was engaged by 35 weeks. He came at 38+2

DD was breech at 34 weeks. She turned at 35+5 and was born at 36+2, so confounds your theory.

Er, I'd get my bag by the door, familygirl.
My 3rd didn't engage until just before I had him...
Am told that's pretty normal.
Good luck!
