If my mum and grandma both delivered early

What are the chances of me giving birth before my due date?

My granny delivered her first a month early and didn't go overdue for her second. My mum had me very early (28 weeks) but was involved in a car crash hence the very early. She didn't go overdue with my brother either.

Trying to work out when to start my mat leave! In case it's relevant, I have v short cycles around 24 days. I saw somewhere that may be a factor in how accurate your due date is?

My mum had me 3 1/2 weeks early.
My first two children also came 3 1/2 weeks early.
My third child was full term.

My mum had several miscarriages and at least one late loss before I was born. She says she was partly dilated almost throughout her two successful pregnancies, and when I stopped moving at 35/40 she was induced by breaking the waters. With my younger sister a decision was made to do the same at 36/40.

I went to 42/40 and failed inductions with both of mine.

Not sure that this helps you any - sorry!

So my mom was two weeks early with all of her children, and so was my maternal grandma. I prepped everything to account for a possible early labor. I also have short cycles as well!

....mine was two weeks overdue. So, likely higher possibility but no guarantees :/

Would be interesting to know where you fall!

I have short cycles and both of mine were born at 39+6.

Interesting! I was planning to work up to 37 weeks but I might rethink that. Anecdotally there does seem to be a correlation which would make sense.

I have 25 day cycles, went into labour with ds at 38+4 and dd at 39 weeks exactly.

My dm and maternal Grandmother never had a baby before 40 weeks. Think they had slightly longer cycles though.

It's not related to what your mum/nan experienced IME they do say if you go early on your first this is more likely to mean the same for subsequent pregnancies. This however did not prove to be true for me. 1st 37weeks
2nd 40+ weeks and induction on next 2 @ 38 weeks. Unfortunately babies come when they come and planning is impossible. I would start maternity leave as late as you want it will be triggered if you have the baby earlier anyway.
