How long can it take for labour to start once you loose your mucus plug?

Just as the title really. I lost my mucus plug partially Sunday evening and Monday morning. But not had labour signs yet. I'm 38 weeks +4 days now. I was ill all Monday night and yesterday and feeling a little better today. Had a few little pains but nothing that felt like contractions. The baby moved extremely low on Sunday during the day.

Thanks...

Anything from a few hours to a fortnight, honestly. But now is a good time to get any household jobs done and get decluttering - make the most of it, however long it is!

Good luck!

I wanted to get all my jobs done etc but felt shocking yesterday and only a bit better today so going to have to put them off for either a few hours or until tomorrow. Depends how I feel as I want as much energy as possible for when I go into labour...

Downside is I haven't even built the second Moses basket stand yet 😩

A week in my case! Plug went at 37+1 and baby arrived at 38+1.

I never had one Moses basket stand let alone two. Your baby will be fine without it. Relax and let nature take it’s course.

First baby, plug, show, labour same night. Second baby, night 1 plug, show, night 2 more show, labour - baby 4 hours later.

Even managed to tell my husband to go next door to tell our neighbour the baby would come that night before labour even started 😂

And chill... never once was a Moses basket used in this house, much less a stand. Relax, rest, watch tv, take a walk, enjoy what’s left of your freedom 😄😉

Mine came away in bits around my due date. Was induced at 40+15 because he was still showing no signs of heading out!! Hope you have better luck x

Fingers crossed she comes very soon then. From hearing all your stories it seems it's not too long after the plug has gone that labour starts... mines been two days now. Is there anything that helps bring on labour?

I had been wondering this too—mine came away in a lump yesterday morning (35w), no other symptoms. But then my waters went tonight and I’m now in hospital, hoping labour will start soon. With DS1 I had waters and contractions Immediately, but don’t remember losing my mucous plug!

almostmumtotwo · 28/06/2018 08:12

Good luck @Levithecat your baby will be here in no time. Once your waters break they have 24 hours for the baby to come x

My went at 9am, I had a show around 2 hours later and my contractions went from full period pains to “Jesus fucking ow ow ow” immediately. Dd was born the next day.

Good luck!
