Am 37+1 with second baby.
With first baby (2 years ago), had Braxton Hicks for about 2 weeks beforehand, quite uncomfortable but manageable and didn't affect my ability to get on with usual things. Had a sweep then labour started 36 hours later at 41+2. I woke up at 04:30, by 06:00 realised this was the real thing and was at labour ward by 08:00.
This time around, my baby seems to want to escape a bit earlier than expected but is taking her sweet time 😕.
Contractions started around 40 hours ago (Friday evening) and have been in different patterns of frequently, intensity and duration. Definitely ramped up with intensity and duration today (90-120 seconds), although they have varied from 4-8 minutes apart and pretty much stopped all last night before starting up again this morning.
Am completely and utterly fed up and knackered. The midwife unit was completely unsympathetic - she said "no need for fed up" and gave me the usual paracetamol and bath spiel and told me to call back when they are closer together etc etc. She also somewhat helpfully reminded me that I have another 3 weeks until my due date 😩.
I am planning to try and drag myself to the midwife drop-in clinic tomorrow morning to get them to check baby's position and my cervix.
Has anyone had a super long first stage of labour? Would love to know if this will end soon as think I am going mad 😔.
Thanks! X
