Hi there - I had my dd at home in London and it was a great experience. Fantastic midwife group who were very pro-homebirth and very supportive of what I wanted. Expecting another at Christmas but we are looking at moving to Oxfordshire before then so am hoping to find a similarly supportive group of midwives - any suggestions/ experiences appreciated!

My dd was born in Oxford. Was planning for a homebirth and midwife was SUPER supportive of it, even for a firstborn. I ended up freaking out and getting scared and went to hospital in the end but overall I think the MWs are very supportive. The MWs in the hospital were also really great, although I think I went through at least a dozen of them I was in there for so long...

Not sure that helps as I didn't actually do the homebirth but the support would have been there if I had decided to go through with it.

I went through the 19 Beaumont St Practice (pretty sure they have a website). I am now hanging my head in shame as I can't remember her name... Starts with a G or a J... I think. Oh my. She really is lovely though!

Yes, she's my midwife too. She was really encouraging (but not pushy) about homebirth for my and it's my first. I'm not sure I'm going to do it but am going to speak to her again at my next appointment. GP and stand-in midwife (when Gina was on hols) also really supportive. I get the impression that Oxford is pretty keen on encouraging homebirth. (Perhaps partly because the JR is so busy...!)

I planned a homebirth in Oxford with my firstborn and had lots of support from the midwives. Ended up in hospital in the end after a problem came up during labour, fortunately we were both fine. I got the impression the midwives who attended me were very overworked, though.
