Mine started at 8 months... trying to work out it’s post pregnancy related or thyroid related. So much came out this morning it’s starting to really stress me out. Sad

3 months, both times.

Mine started at 4 months. Really bothered me to start with as it used to come out in clumps but it’s finally settling down now (6 weeks later) and I’ve become accustomed again to my old thinner less shiny hair Sad sob

Can't remember exactly but it was quite a bit, felt like I would fill the hair brush every time I used it.

DappledThings · 12/06/2018 09:50

About 5 months both times. I love it though because I hate how thick my hair is and I feel much better about it when it is self-thinning

Mine carried on until I stopped breastfeeding. That was about 18m. It didn’t start growing again until I realised I was badly anaemic and started taking iron tablets.

4 - 5 months, both times. It was most definitely NOT just the excess hair grown during pregnancy falling out either (that's what my GP insisted). I didn't have a receding hairline halfway to the crown on my head before I got pregnant! Nor could you see my scalp shining through. It did grow back eventually but it took a good year before I finally had a halo of fuzzy short hairs around my head.

About 4-6 months I think. And carried on until about 18 months. I bloody hated it. It came out in huge clumps. Like a PP, it definitely wasn’t just losing the extra hair I’d grown during pregnancy. I was left with far far thinner hair than I started with before becoming pregnant.

Around 4 months pp both times. I would say I lost at least a quarter of my hair. I have very thick hair and it grew back all spiky.

Never did.

I can't remember exactly when, but I know in the year after both my DCs were born, I thought I was going to go completely bald at various points. Not only did so much come out, I felt like I couldn't move for leaving hair everywhere, I did actually end up with two long thin triangles of baldness - where men tend to recede first, which then grew back & initially looked like pubes!!!!! They were bad hair years.

Are you eating plenty of iron rich foods or taking an iron supplement? Might be something to consider. Also make sure you are getting sufficient protein & not just using carbs to power you through any sleep deprivation you might be suffering. I was terribly iron deficient, which can cause hair loss. Of course no health professional thought to tell me that, it was only going through my records a few years later & looking at my ferritin results, I could see they were below range for years!

Never did

TroubledLichen · 12/06/2018 15:20

Never did. I had ridiculously thick hair before pregnancy, it got even thicker during so I was hoping I’d lose some but it’s still totally unmanageable and DD is now 1!

4 months. I can usually spot who has a baby under one by the wispy little short bits growing back at the front!
