I had the gel thing put in about midnight, but was already having mild contractions. Had 2 paracetamol & went to sleep.
6am - harder contractions
8am - rather hard contractions
8:30am - epidrual as I was "coming on too fast" (story of my life)
1:05pm - DS born (MW had to wake me up to push him out)

PandaG · 17/05/2007 14:43

gel at 9pm - went back to ward
1 am back on labour ward

4.30 ish - DD born

PeckaRolloverAgain · 17/05/2007 14:45

3 days

Both times

Mum2FunkyDude · 17/05/2007 14:46

Unfortunately for me: Induced Tuesday morning, again Tuesday evening, again Wednesday morning, contractions started 7pm on Wednesday, ds born my emergency c-section on Thursday at 7:05pm

ejt1764 · 17/05/2007 14:53

gel on Tuesday evening - no effect - delivery suite full - delayed having next dose for 12 hours.
gel on wednesday evening - no effect - delivery suite full (again) - delayed having next dose of 12 hours
gel on Thursday morning - horrendous prostin pains for 18 hours - no effect on dilation whatsoever.
Friday morning - no sleep for 3 nights, v. tearful - decided (by MWs & my consultant) to break my waters - labour induced by drip - very painful - had epidural and finally spinal block as instability in pelvis lead to screaming agony (after contractions) ds got wedged - eventually ended up with a c section - ds born at 1015pm.

So, 100 hours start to finish ... and even then ds came out of the sun roof!

I have not heard of very many women who manage to deliver vaginally after induction.

Will I allow myself to be induced again? No a chance!

fishie · 17/05/2007 14:55

gel thingy thursday night and some more at intervals until... evil drip saturday night. cs sunday lunchtime.

Boco · 17/05/2007 14:55

I had a rare reaction to the induction drug. Went from 3cm dilated to holding dd2 in 14 minutes!!!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/05/2007 14:55

gel 1 - 8:30am
gel 2 - 4:00pm (labour well and truly started at 5pm)
baby born - 9pm

Blackduck · 17/05/2007 14:55

2 hrs - but I suspect ds was ready and waiting!

Boco · 17/05/2007 14:56

Goodness she's always been a traumatising little baby.

powder28 · 17/05/2007 15:06

Gel at bout 3pm, baby born at 5.30am following morning

lazyemma · 17/05/2007 15:06

I had a pessary put in at 6.30pm I'd say that proper contractions started after about 2 hours. My daughter was born at 12.15am - so less than 6 hours from pessary to baby!

Gobbledigook · 17/05/2007 15:07

I was induced with ARM and syntocin (already a little dilated so no gel palava)

ARM about 10-11am (not sure) and ds1 born 8.37pm

crazylazydaisy · 17/05/2007 15:10

dd1 - pessary 8.30pm, born at 2.20am
ds2 - pessary 10 pm, born at 3.45pm
oh so about 5 and 3/4 hours both times - never realised that before!!
Hope it goes well xx

crazylazydaisy · 17/05/2007 15:12

Sorry- I meant 3.45 am not pm, boy that would've been long

LynetteScavo · 17/05/2007 15:14

17 hours, aprox. It was may 2nd baby.

2Happy · 17/05/2007 15:16

11am assessed - posterior cervix 1cm, given prostin
6pm regular mild tightenings, reassessed = posterior, still 1cm but waters felt to be bulging
8.30pm - getting stronger tightenings, waters suddenly went, whacking strong contractions from there on

(but you don't want to know the rest as it went wrong shortly after, but that was ds2's silly fault and nothing to do with the induction IYSWIM)

Good luck

Flower3554 · 17/05/2007 15:19

dd1 9am approx waters broken and drip put in, born at 3.30pm

ds1 10am waters broken etc, born 12.30pm ( yes two and a half hours from start to finish,dh said it was like shelling peas)

dd2 cramp like pain while in hospital to be induced the next morning.
12.30am midwife broke waters etc, born at 6am

Best of luck

Mumpbump · 17/05/2007 15:19

8 hours from waters being broken to ds' arrival.

serenity · 17/05/2007 15:22

Not sure of the exact times, but I got to the ward for 7.30am and I think they broke my waters at about 9.30ish (was a couple of cm dilated but no contractions) Had fairly heavy contractions for a couple of hours but wasn't really progressing so they put me on the syntocin drip at about 12ish which broght on full blown labour. At about 3.40pm it was pretty full on, and they said I'd be another 4 to 5 hours so I had pethadine at about 3.50pm. DS2 was born asleep (with 1 push!) at 4.05pm

He bounced off the bed as I was on all fours and the midwives couldn't get back into the room in time to catch him

I was fine as was DS2 (when he eventually woke up fully about 20 hours later!) The poor trainee midwife went into shock, and had to be comforted with sweet tea and a blanket.......

Bakester · 17/05/2007 15:32

I was induced 6 times. Loads of pain and no prize at the end RUBBISH!!! It had no affect on my cervix at all After attempt number 6 they gave me a day off and then a CS. I will try and avoid it next time.

lou031205 · 17/05/2007 15:38

Seen by consultant 12.30pm - decided induction necessary.

Arrived at ward 13.45 - admitted.

Prostin pessary given 16.45.

"Tightenings" noted on CTG (I couldn't feel them) at 10pm - moved to private room.

Waters broke spontaneously 03.45; irregular, frequent contractions. Suspected over-reaction to prostin - moved to labour ward.

Needing poo at 06.30 - labour ward busy, told not in labour - CTG showing frequent, irregular contractions.

08.30 Vaginal examination reveals 10cms dilated (WAS in labour!)

09.20 - Baby Millie arrives.

Personally, I would be induced again. The only complication was that my labour was 'atypical', so dismissed as sensitivity to the pessary. Labour of around 4 hours (they think, but had to guess), birth 5.5 hours after waters broke. But to be totally honest, only in significant pain (TENS machine and paracetamol up until them) at around 08.15, which is why they finally did a VE & found I was 10 cms.

So, 4 hour labour (ish?) but 1 hour of pain (Gas & Air is fab).

AitchTwoOh · 17/05/2007 15:39

7 hours for me! It was all fine.

hayes · 17/05/2007 15:43

-8amm waters broken and oxytocin
-ds born 8:12 pm. after about 6 hours of real labor.
