Hi Mums,

Does any of you have the experience of delivering in Royal Berkshire or Frimley Park hospitals? I'm 32 weeks pregnant and I need to select one of these hospitals but I'm new to this area and don't know anyone who has delivered in these two hospitals. It would be great if you can share your experiences with me. Thanks.

Had my DS at Frimley Park on 30th March by semi emergency csection. Honestly cannot raté the hospital higher. Unfortunately I had gestational diabetes so was there an awful lot but the staff were amazing all through my pregnancy

Sorry posted too soon. I actually went into labour a week earlier than my planned csection (breach baby) and luckily I was in hospital at the time. I got to experience the labour Ward which was great and the theatre for csection. All staff were excellent and couldn't do enough to help.
The only down side is nighttime on postnatal as I was stuck in a side room so did feel a bit isolated As there aren't as many midwives over night. Would definitely recommend and happy to answer any questions you might have 😀

Had two babies at Frimley within the last four years. Really good, would happily recommend. Haven't heard great things about Royal Berks but no personal experience. Good luck!

Definitely Frimley. I had my first at Royal Berks and my second at Frimley. Frimley was much better, the staff were nicer and took my concerns far more seriously. They also had better breast feeding support. The care on the postnatal ward at Royal Berks was virtually non existent.

Royal Berks is awful. Frimley all the way for me.

I had my son at Frimley Park. It was 9 years ago but they were AMAZING!! I needed a 4 pint blood transfusion overnight after the birth and was terrified of having that done and having to look after my new baby on my own to the point of a complete meltdown - they arranged for me to be able to use a private room (and by private I mean just that, one for PRIVATE patients even though I was NHS!) for the duration of the transfusion so that hubby could stay with me during it. (He had to go home as soon as it was finished as I had to go back on the ward but it was much appreciated.)
The care was very good, both for me as a mother wanting to breastfeed but struggling as my son had a tongue tie (encouraging me to try, when I was frustrated encouraging to try to express some milk to 'mix feed' and when I was really exhausted giving me the option of a midwife feeding him some formula if I so wished) and with the lady in the bed next to me who chose formula right from the start.
I also have a massive phobia about curtains being open over windows at night so struggled with the big hospital windows and they even helped with that by allowing me to pull my curtains round a little way to block off most of the window from view!

Oh and the meals were half decent too! Haha.

Sorry for the ramble.

FPH is excellent, had my 2 there via c-section and could not fault the care I received. It is my local hospital and have been there for other reasons and always have had a good experience.

Thanks all, that helps a lot! Smile
Do you have any experience of Neonatal units in these hospitals?
