Uterine prolapse - cervix very close to entrance of vagina?!

So I am 2 weeks postpartum and had a very long labour with third degree tear which was sorted in theatre.

I’ve been checking my stitches regularly to check on healing and was shocked to see what I think is my cervix about only one inch inside the opening of my vagina. Is this a uterine prolapse? Or can this be fairly normal that close post birth an it may go back to normal.

Has completely freaked me out. Help! I can physically see it!

Are you sure it's your cervix? That isn't normal. Get yourself checked out.

It could be your cervix. It takes a little while for things to settle down after childbirth, especially if the delivery was traumatic. Hopefully things will improve for you.

I have a uterine prolapse and for approx 1 week per month (it varies depending on hormones), my cervix is very close to the opening of my vagina. I know what you mean about freaking out and I refuse to look! It’s uncomfortable, but it’s not life-threatening; please don’t panic. It’s a good idea to make an appointment with your GP for a chat about it.

It could be a uterine prolapse or one of the other types of prolapse but you are very early post partum so I'd probably leave it a little longer and check again when things have healed up. I've just had prolapse repair surgery several years post partum and it's quite a long recovery period where you can't lift anything. It's one of the reasons I ignored mine for so long! (Not that I recommend that course of action though)
