So, tomorrow is the day...39 wks with #3 and an induction beckons.

I'm not looking forward to it but am feeling quite pragmatic, have focussed on packing and organising, taking kids to a farm park, and having a fat Chinese for dinner.

Kids are going to my parents, hopefully not for days on end! No point to my post really, just hoping for random chat and baby talk. 😂

Best of luck! I had my ds exactly 12 hours before my induction appointment. Grin

doodlejump1980 · 17/10/2017 16:43

Good luck. Worst bit of it for me was the canula in the hand. Yeouch!

Witsender · 17/10/2017 17:01

Thank you! I had strep B earlier in pregnancy so will definitely need plugging in for the antibiotics...I have discussed with them that if the pessaries don't do anything I would almost rather have a section than go for the drip, apparently that's really painful!

Good luck. I had the pessary at 10am and had DD just after 4pm.
It's means to an end.

Witsender · 17/10/2017 18:13

That's what I'm hoping for. The docs are hoping that as I had a mega quick labour with #2 that this one may just need a nudge. 🤞

Am freaking out now that something horrific will happen and I'll leave the kids without a mother. Have already told DH that if the worst happens I want him to choose me so I don't leave the kids. 😭🙄 Not that I catastrophise or anything. 😂

Wishing you all the best!

Good luck!

StarStruK · 18/10/2017 06:56

Good luck today!!

Witsender · 18/10/2017 09:17

Foiled! I phoned as instructed as they said they were busy and consultant would be going round to do her rounds and prioritise and they are going to come back to me. So we are all sat in limbo waiting for the phone to ring. 😂

Had a few years earlier and now just waiting. Booo.

Good luck!

Are you being induced for medical reasons? Sorry I’m just v nosy! 36 weeks here and mega fed up!

Witsender · 18/10/2017 13:26

Yes, I had strep B earlier in pregnancy so need to have intravenous antibiotics in labour. But #2 was a super quick labour and they are concerned that I wouldn't get here in time to have them before he appears. This baby also looks fairly large and #2 did a fair bit of damage (nigh on 4th degree tear and hefty blood loss) so they want to make sure this one is well managed.

Am on the ward now, nothing has been done yet so am reading endless awful magazines. 😂 Had a KFC for lunch though so not all bad!

I’ve just got my Strepelle test through today, need to get that sent ASAP

Witsender · 18/10/2017 15:51

Is that a strep B test? Mine came back in a routine urine sample early on.

Well, after many tears (I'm.not a cryer, I blame hormones) they have sent me home again, they're just too busy to be able to progress any inductions until the labour suite clears a bit. They gave me a sweep and promised to call if anything cleared, or I am to call again in the morning.

So the kids are still at my parents to avoid disruption and DH and I are watching a crap film with some M&S ready meals waiting for dinner.

I am.so bad at waiting.

Yes! You have to stab your fanny and your bum hole which is a pleasant task at the best of times nevermind when youre the size of a house.

And DS walked in in the middle of it carrying a sergi meercat and a mystery machine 😫 thankfully he’s 3 so didn’t really give any fucks. Hopefully it’s not one for the long term memory bank.

Ohb0llocks · 18/10/2017 17:03

Swab! You have to swab them you absolutely don’t stab them Blush

Witsender · 18/10/2017 17:14

Haha! I'm hoping that the sweep they did before I came home.does something, or at least something clears before the morning. 😂

I didn't know they did DIY tests for it, but then I had never heard of strep B until they phoned me to tell me I had it. 😁

Well, sweep clearly did the job:

Thanks all. Worked out well in the end, went to bed and woke up to waters breaking at 0045 but no contractions. Phoned maternity who said to wait for them to start before coming in, before remembering I was due to be induced because of strep B and speedy labours so revised that to 'come in now for antibiotics.'

By the time we were in the car I was having contractions, but very manageable ones. Got to hospital about 0130, went on monitor etc and had IV put in.

By this point having quite strong contractions, not feeling quite as manageable but coping. Was 3cms dilated. After antibiotics we moved to the labour ward, where I was finding it hard going, feeling sick and dizzy with each contraction. Had a diamorphine injection which was due to take 15 mins to kick in. Was checked again (fully ready for her to say 5cms or something ridiculous in which case I was going to go straight to epidural 😂) but had managed to go from 3 to 10 cms in about 20 mins.

By this point I was feeling a slight bearing down feeling coming into the contractions so the MW stepped in to help me make sure I didn't tear as much as last time and control it a little more. After a few massive pushes followed by being told to hold off a little to allow more stretching he appeared all in one go at 0400. So, quick, but not as explosive as his older brother!

8lb6oz and managed to avoid the induction meds. A very small superficial tear which had two stitches under gas and air shortly after birth. Feeling quite achy now and having some after pains, but managing on paracetamol for now. Feeding is going well, just waiting for final obs to be done (he needed to stay in for 12 hours cause of the strep B) and then may go home.
