Has anyone been induced twice and then gone on to going into labour naturally?

With both DD1 and DD2 I went 14 days over due date and was then induced with both.

Has anyone else had this but then gone into labour naturally with DC3???

I am wondering if I am just a woman who can't go into labour myself.

Have faith, of course you can go into labour naturally. Maybe you just gestate longer then the 14 extra days you are 'allowed'.

Do you have any reflexologists in your area who specialise in pregnancy? I went to see one on the Friday (to specifically induce labour) and woke up Sat morning in labour.

Have also heard the hompeopathic remedy clary sage is good. Although should only be used in v late pregnancy.

a pregnancy can be 37 - 42 weeks, or even 43 weeks....you might need to be pregnant for 43 weeks....

there are things you can do to try and help nature along, but at the end of the day, babies come when they are ready

if you go over your EDD again, you can refuse induction and ask for monitoring of the baby and placenta to make sure baby is happy in utero

an EDD is just that , it is estimated....

Meg, no experience with inductions I'm afraid, but it could well be that, rather than being a woman who can't go into labour herself, you might be a woman who just takes longer to cook babies to perfection. Gestation normally lasts between 37-42 weeks according to WHO, but some people still go into labour earlier than that, and others just take a bit longer than the 42 weeks. You don't need to be induced, if you don't want to, you can just ask to be monitored and for a scan to check fluid and whether the placenta is still working properly. See the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guidelines on this. See also this website with information about being overdue.
Two people I know have just had their babies without any problems at 42+5 and 42+2. Unusual, but perfectly normal.

I didn't know you could refuse induction and ask for monitoring instead.

I was induced with ds nearly 8 years ago at 42 weeks and it was an extremely unpleasant experience.

I went into labour naturally with dd a day before my due date but was in slow labour for 5 days.

I drank raspberry leaf tea, had lavender baths, curries, tried everything and it did pay off although it might have happened anyway.

This time I will be doing the same again. didn't know that about clary sage though. How does that work?

i was 15 days over & induced with DS1

but popped on my duedate by myself with DS2

I think I will ask to goes as long as it takes, with monitering.

With both of my girls I tried anything and everything to get them out. Tried caster oil with OJ with DD1 which I am sure caused her the pass meconium in the womb. Tried rasberry leaf tea and tablets, reflexolgy, pineapple, sex and most other bits. Although I never tried the nipple stim (lulus fav) .

Would absolutly love to feel what "normal" labour feels like.

and yes, castor oil can cause meconium to be present in the waters

also, try some visualisation and affirmations, to get yourself to believe your body can do this, without help, and can do it when you and baby are ready !

so lulu - what about those of us who's waters break and our bodies just act like complete heffalumps and show no signs of going into labour???

i don;t know everything !! ask your doula if she has any experience of this, and if not, she can post the query on the doula uk forum, and ask all the other doulas if they know of this , and any tips to get things started naturally !!

Have been having strong BH's from around 24 weeks which I never had with my other 2 PG's am hoping that this could be a good sign that things could happen sooner. Although deep down I know thats wishful thinking.

Will go and read the website for some inspiration. Won't start using the tips for a another 4 weeks though. As soon as 37 weeks hits I'm off LOL

i had DD on her due date, having been induced with DS , so had no experience of going into labour naturally, had very strong BH . also from early on, the last couple of weeks, they were so strong at times, i could not walk, and had to wait them out.....DD practically shot out !

i had to be induced twice not because i was overdue but because i had pre eclampsia! went natuaraly on my third tho at 35wks!

They are so strong at times I can practicaly see where she is lying. Tummy goes that hard. Goodness knows what they will be like nearer the time

I felt like this before I had DS2, although I'd only had the one induction. With DS1 I tried EVERYTHING from homeopathy to clary sage to pineapples, sex, acupuncture, sweeps (2) and it was only the pessary that kicked things off.

With DS2 I had a couple of sessions of acupuncture that really worked. Afterwards I felt like something was definitely happening - my baby dropped, I had BH contractions etc. So I can really recommend it now.

I have to admit, I do feel great that I "can" go into labour all by my big self (oh apart from the sweep, curries and acupuncture!) I'm sure you'll do the same.

My aunt's 1st pregnancy was 44 weeks, btw.
